Thinking about adopting a retired breeder

Hello! And Happy Holidays sphynx fam. I have 2 male younger sphynx about 1 and 1.5-years-old. They have the same dad and their moms are sisters. Both their mamas are about to turn 5 and will be retiring in the near future. The breeder said she would be happy to retire one to my care if I decide...

Homemade cat food vs. raw vs. canned?

What do you feed your sphynx on a daily basis? I would love to try, but feel overwhelmed with what to pick (e.g. bones versus no bones, chunks versus ground, etc) and how much exactly to feed (I see 2-3% of daily weight, but I feel like my two are so active they may need more). Right now, I only...

Homemade cat food vs. raw vs. canned?

Thank you! I have to admit, I get a bit overwhelmed with understanding how to feed raw (e.g. how much bone and organs they need, when to add supplements, etc). I may start with cooking food and using Balance IT since their website gives the exact amount of things to add.

Homemade cat food vs. raw vs. canned?

Hi all! I have been on quite the tumultuous feeding journey since I got my first Sphynx July of 2020 (I have two half siblings that are 1 and 1.5 years old). My older sphynx has had a series of allergy and eye issues since he was a small kitten. He developed lip ulcers at one point...

4.5 month old Sphynx sensitive skin tips please :)

Awww poor baby! My guy is only barely 1 year old. He also gets yeasty nails and has sensitive skin. Other than that, he has been OK. I have a litter robot and have been using Dr. Elsey’s Ultra cat litter. I’ve also just started mixing it with Sustainably Yours Multi Cat litter, which seems to be...

4.5 month old Sphynx sensitive skin tips please :)

Hello! So quite a few things have changed since I started this thread. The antiviral drops he was on were called Idoxuridine - they’re compounded only at special pharmacies. He responded really well to them for the first couple of weeks, but has since stopped responding to them at all. Right...

4.5 month old Sphynx sensitive skin tips please :)

Hi all! I have an update on my little guy for others who may be experiencing similar things. I decided 5 days ago to omit all chicken and fish from my cats diet as a last ditch effort to see if it would improve his weepy/crusty eyes and runny nose. I stopped his idoxuridine drops 2ish weeks ago...

4.5 month old Sphynx sensitive skin tips please :)

Hi all, An update on my little guy: Initially, after 2 weeks of idoxuridine drops around the clock, my kittens eyes and nose symptoms cleared. However, 2 weeks after I stopped the drops, his symptoms came back (albeit, more mild than before). My vet said I could start the drops again, and I’ve...

    Introducing a new kitten

Hi All! I currently have a 6.5-month-old male sphynx whom I love dearly. I'm going to be bringing home one of his half-siblings (another male that looks just like him) in the beginning of December, as I think a friend will be good for him. I won't have the luxury of being home with this new...
