World's best cat litter.. Cousing yeast infection??

Hello lovelies! Hope you all good! Sorry I was so quiet lately but I had a busy time at Uni and work. Bonnie is doing great! Switching her food to raw diet did wonders for her skin! ;) I've been using World's Best Cat litter in the past few weeks.. I noticed some darker spots on her and...

    Dark spots

Looks like a slightly different skin issue than the yeast infection @Yoda mom suggested which Dublin had some time ago @SarahShambles While it may possibly be, Malaseb Shampoo could help some. Of course if it spreads quickly and concerns you, by all means, take your baby to a vet. Keep in...

    Dry Skin/ Dirty Skin

UPDATE- to anyone who may be interested to know... so, my cat got a respiratory infection thing going on a couple weeks ago and so I took her into the vet for this. While at the vet, the vet said right away that it also looked like she had a possible skin infection- and that what was going on...

Discolored and dry nose please help

Thank you all for the replies! We went to the vet and she had an ear infection, yeast.. Her ears were super waxy and the vet wasn’t able to see her ear drum. I Felt like an awful cat mom but she said it’s safer to not use the q-tip to go too deep into the ear anyway. They professionally cleaned...

    Sooo much sickness

That makes a ton of sense. I’ll get her on pre and probiotics immediately then. I didn’t even think about that and it is sort of yeasty smelling. Thank you!

    Sooo much sickness

She could very well have ringworm in her feets , too. But more likely I think is that her whole flora is off between the ringworm and the antifungal medicine. It’s kind of like how women are more likely to get a yeast infection while on antibiotics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Anyone know what these darker spots

I have 2 litter suggestions. Smart Cat litter (made of grass hulls-this is what we use and is completely dust free, not just an empty promise. It would be ok for her respiratory health) Pelleted litter (they make aspen, newspaper, and others) I really can’t recommend #1 strongly enough. We...

Anyone know what these darker spots

...her sinus problems but then the dark area appeared. This is also exactly where her huge belly rests when she sits. She is also on a daily vet prescribed probiotic so a yeast infection seems unlikely. It’s not red and she doesn’t it’s it. But we might end up just taking her in to the vet anyways.

    Spots on kitten

I can’t tell from the pics if it is moist? If yes, my guess is yeast infection (easily treated with the correct medication) If no, I believe they are a nevus (unsightly but not dangerous, treatable by laser therapy) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Skin allergy

There are 2 things I want you to ask your vet about. Yeast/fungal infection and Mange I don’t think it is simple dry skin and if you eliminated the allergen weeks ago kitty should have healed up better than that by now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Trying Malaseb “just in case”?

I believe it shouldnt be a problem using malaseb every so often if the diagnostic does not rule for fungal/bacterial/yeast infection. It does really dry out the skin so I’ve been told my one of my vets that applying human hand lotion (as long as its not scented) or baby/coconut oil just to help...

Skin issue.. any idea of what this could be?

Thanks for the healing vibes.. The skin scraping for bacteria had a lot of inflammatory cells and very few bacteria so yes, bacterial infection was ruled out. I’m this baby’s breeder. This started when he was 3wks old and he’s just over 6wks now. I hope nobody ever places Sphynx babies that...

Black Tongue?? 7 vets have no clue??

...testing for Toxoplasmosis as standard bloodwork doesn't cover it. I would definitely mention it to your vet, and Mew shouldn't need to be put under for a blood sample, right? :( The yeast infection does also sound like a possibility, and I would also explore all options before a biopsy...

Black Tongue?? 7 vets have no clue??

@Jennyaitchison I've never heard of this happening. What I WILL say is to demand the vet treat it as a yeast infection FIRST before doing the biopsy. Don't allow them to tell YOU what order to do things, especially if you don't want to put your kitty through that kind of stress (yet). It's...

Black Tongue?? 7 vets have no clue??

...which is the main reason I really don't want to do it as I don't want to keep putting her under stress :( I've mentioned a yeast infection to the vets but they just told me the best way to test would be this biopsy :( I have searched for local cat specialists for the breed but couldnt find...

    Flippant Veterinarians!

...had a terrible experience. The feline specialist was completely inexperienced with sphynx. He diagnosed Kenzo’s brown ear wax as a yeast infection, even though the swabs came back negative and clean. He then tested fecal matter and, unprovoked, told me he’s “surprised there are no worms...

    Ongoing issues

First of all your baby is GORGEOUS!!! It's difficult to get past the cuteness before putting in my two cents. Is this a new kitty? Did she come with a (health) guarantee from the breeder? If this IS a new kitty, have you gone over the health issues with the breeder and is she/he willing to...

...(something I was under the impression was normal for sphynx cats but apparently not to this extent). So we took swabs and she has a yeast infection in the ears. Kitten Kountdown!

Indeed! I’ve read such things about URI’s, it’s just she seemed to have it before I got her, but it’s not terrible. She’s got some antibiotics at the moment for that. As for the ears, she had a lot of it in her ears - they tested it as well and it contained yeast. I’m guessing the yeast isn’t...

    Kitten Kountdown!

URIs are common for sphynx kittens transitioning to a new home. It’s a mix of stress and new environment. The daily dose of L-Lysine should be just the thing to get her all cleared up! Sphynx ear gunk is always brown, and for that reason, sometimes gets mistaken for an ear infection. A similar...

    My big man Gus

Welcome! You've come to the right place. There's lots of people with tons of knowledge about these creatures here, and no judging... Every sphynx is an individual and the routines differ. In my experience baths has been needed about once a month in our house. In between baths I try to wipe them...
