food wet food dry food diet

I have started having issues with my cats not wanting dry food as they have gotten older. Is it okay to give mostly wet? I always heard in the past dry is best but I have had discussions on here and some say wet is best? So give me your thoughts or if you have vet knowledge on what they say is best?
