A couple days ago I bought Stitch into the animal HR for rapid, labored breathing. Thankfully, I get to bring him home in a few hours— they diagnosed him with CHD and HCM.

They believe we’ve caught it rather early, but given that he did have fluid in his lungs it is still a major concern and they weren’t able to give a confident prognosis.

It’s both a huge emotional and financial toll. I’m just hoping that my boy is able to give us a few more years with minimal discomfort.

Can’t wait to have my snugglebug back home! His canine sister misses him as well.

@sharkcastic, hugs, so sorry for handsome Stitch's diagnosis of CHD and HCM.,, early detection a plus when on this journey. glad you are able to pick him up in a few hours. give him a big head smooch from me. we gotcha.

you are not alone, we are here for you. several of us have been on the journey and I know personally how emotional it is. I kissed my boy on the head and told him we got this. he had no idea of the written diagnosis . Our babies only know our love. my boy lived nearly a decade and had a life of love and did great.

please let us know what medications he is on. sending hugs and a lair family full of positive vibe head smooches. thinking of you. we are here for you and Stitch. keep us updated often, all paws are family.

@sharkcastic. YodaMom is so right on. My Paka behaved before and after her diagnosis like nothing was going on. She got a treat after her liquid atenolol. She got it the very same time every day. We had a compounding pharmacy make it taste like chicken. For her it was all something to look forward to.

Good you caught it early. For you, you have to pamper your heart and not sob in front of Stitch. Play, enjoy and be grateful for the kind of love a sphynx gives you. There is a future for all of you. :)

Please do keep us all in the loop. We are here for you, are going to worry about you and Stitch and will give and get experience from yours. Paka only got tested because of Sheldon13’s plea at 11. You are ahead of the game. Love….

Thank you so much! I just picked him up.

Of course, the first thing he wanted to do was eat (after a warm car ride home).

They sent us home with clopidogrel, furosemide, and pimobendan. I also downloaded an app that will help me keep a log of his respiratory rate!

I am nervous about our future and how much longer we will have with him. I still have many questions that will develop as time goes on, but he’s due for a follow-up within 1-2 weeks so I will save them for then.

I appreciate your support and apologize for your loss

Thank you for the kind and encouraging words <3
I am so happy to have my boy back home. He is once again acting as if nothing is going on. I’m glad he isn’t feeling lethargic. I want him to feel all the love from his canine sisters and his human dads! He certainly receives plenty of it.

The news is such an upsetting shock but every morning we get up, we have no idea about what the rest of the year looks like. Try not to think of how much longer you have with him. Make each day count. Try to swap places (wink). I’m old, my cats have no idea. They go about their days knowing i will be here to feed and cuddle them. :).

Im sorry to hear of Stitches diagnosis, I know how worried you must feel. But it is good that it was caught early. My boy Wilson was also prescribed clopidogrel and sotalol too. With careful management and support from his cardio specialist (referred through our vet) we adapted to manage his condition and he had a good quality of life . We simply adapted and got used to the daily medication routine ( after trying out various treats to make it easier to give him the medication) . Try to focus on the present, enjoy Stiches wonderful company each day and although I know we humans worry so much about the *what ifs" remember that our four legged friend live life in the present (and are probably much happier for it !) Sending good vibes for you and Stich x

so glad you got him to the vet when you did. Try not to focus on how much time you have left with him but enjoy the days as you go. He only knows your love.

The app I used with Agnes is called Cardalis

There is also a Pet Breath Counter but looks like it is only available on Google play?
