I am sadly starting to wonder if myself and my son are allergic to the cats. I notice a difference in myself when I leave the house I rarely sneeze but at home I am sneezing all the time. I also doubt this as it has just been the last few weeks, but also getting hives. The only time I have ever had itchy eyes was to a long haired cat but the sphynx have never bothered me that I knew of. Both of us have itchy eyes. He is sick though with a fever but he has been complaining of itchy eyes before he got sick. I am starting to worry. I know I AM allergic to cats, but depends on the cat. Weston has always had breathing issues and I am so scared the cats are making it worse. They are not allowed in the bedroom at all, and for the past 2 weeks I have had them locked in Weston's room (we never go in there) but the allergies have stayed the same. I just notice when I am at work the allergies don't bother me near as bad. The doctor today said they usually don't do allergy testing in kids until age 3 and Weston is 2. I don't even want to get him tested. What if I had to get rid of my cats? I am scared and sad.

Oh no! I to am allergic to kitties but live with three! I take a Zyrtec every night and that has really helped. I have other allergies as well so I need to take it anyway but..... it calms them way down and makes them liveable. Good luck and I hope everything works out ok.

Well I hope I am just over thinking. We had allergies before the dog. The only other thing I can think is the hedgehogs, so I have rehomed all but 3 of those and looking for homes for the last 3. My one male will be so hard to part with I LOVE him he is so nice. Sigh so if anyone in Colorado wants a hedgie I will be heading that way September 25-26. I have one snowflaked female who needs work, 1 standard grey male baby (most know these as salt and pepper) and one AWESOME male black and white pinto.

I think it is them. I remember as a kid having them and having a weird cough. I can't remember if we ever figured it out though. They are on carefresh at the moment. I had 2 adults and 4 babies. Now I just have one baby and the parents. I don't know if I am just freaking myself out of what. I have had the cats for MONTHS with no issues so I really don't think that but you never know. I don't sneeze more holding the cats or anything. I just notice I do it more here. Who knows. It could all be in my head!

I am really good at thinking the worse and freaking myself out

I'm so sorry to hear about your guys not feeling well. :(
Stay positive, IF you guys have allergies you may be able to medicate or adjust in order to keep everyone!
I am so insanely allergic to... well.. everything. Cats and dogs are huge triggers. I have allergies towards my sphynx :( BUT i refuse to get rid of them... i also have my dogs which again... i will sneeze all day long and still keep my animals! And believe me... most days are hell! I don't have medical insurance and live off of Claratin D, Advil Cold and Sinus and benedryl :) But hey.. i get to keep my babies! i have allergy induced asthma also. Most people wouldnt suffer so badly, but i'm such an animal lover.
I have noticed when the kitties are dirty my allergies are worse.
Have you ever been to a homeopathic dr? my inlaws swear by homeopathic. i have been to one. it may be an option for your son. The "dr" told my brother in law if he took these "drops" (their idea of medicine) then it would cure his allergies. his allergies have since subsided, but not diminished. Although, it may be an option for your son, being so young.
Hope it works out and you dont have to get rid of your babies :(

Same here with the allergies. I take Claritin daily and Benedryl at night sometimes. It helps if you take a shower every night before you go to bed (it washes off the pollen) and I use a hypo allergenic pillow. My son got the croup every year and now he has been on Claritin daily and it has helped 98%. YUK - I hate allergies.

4 out of 5 of us have allergy triggers caused by our pets. Routine baths for the dogs and nightly showers and Zyrtec seem to help the humans get by. Not to mention I vacuum and wipe downsurfaces frequently. I hope you find a way to help manage your son's symptoms. Allergies are no fun.

Over the past 2 years I have gradually been developing allergy to animals. In my home, I always have a stuffed nose, and have to be careful to not pet my pets and then touch my face, or my eyes will get swollen. Of course, I am never going to rehome my pets, so have to clean much more often, wash my bedding, wash my hands as often as possible, and if my allergies act up more than usual, take allergy pills. Life isn't "fun" being allergic to pets, but I'm finding a way to push through it!

So, hopefully in your case, it's the changing weather and pollen that is bringing about your allergies, as opposed to your pets. Try to groom and give them baths more often....That should hopefully help. Otherwise, see what your doctor recommends for your son and yourself. Good Luck.

Oh Melonie I hope things get better. Sounds like you have been crazy, I know when we do not feel good it stinks but when it is one of our children it is just the worst.

Well the doctor said she does NOT think its allergies for either of us. His 02 level was back up with the antibiotic shot and I am doing better with antibiotics too! I am sitting at home right now with no sneezing itchy eyes or anything. Weston was cleared to go to daycare. He has no itchy eyes but still has runny nose and cough, no fever! She said we could test but says really no need. I am so happy!

That's great! I'm happy things are starting to turn around for you. When you have a moment, and of course no pressure, but I think we would all love to see pictures of Santana and the other babies that you have added into your home. Just keep trying to relax!
