Sooo my kitty cats' plastic water fountain from Amazon finally gave up after two years. Harley doesn't like to drink from stainless steel. Any ceramic water fountains you use that you recommend?

Has anyone tried below brands:

1)Glacierpoint - has a built-in water chiller but can't quite justify the price since I'm paying Cdn dollars and will need reasonably priced filters where I don't have to pay for shipping every time

2) ThirstyCat fountains - they use copper "faucets" which may start releasing some of the copper overtime which can cause toxicity they say?? Not sure how true this is as some older apartments still have water copper piping

3) Petkit 5th generation - this is on AliExpress but I'm finding some sellers now overcharge for their filters and I don't know if same company will be around years down the road to buy filters from

Has anyone tried DIYing their own filters? I've seen some videos online but they look so much work. I wonder if there's a much simpler way of filtering.

For now I am using plain ol' ceramic bowls. My cats aren't drinking as much though.

@CathyO , I personally gave up on water fountains. constant maintenance, taking motor completely apart weekly and soaking in white vinegar and water. they get slimy quickly.

I now use a corningware large bowl about 6 inches. I place the water bowl a few feet away from the food dish, and it has encouraged more water drinking ...they all go to it like a watering hole ;) I change it /refill 2x a day

@Yoda mom I recently read about the vinegar rinse and was wondering won’t cats still smell some of the vinegar if one runs the motor through it even after a few water rinses

Our floor usually gets dusty in just 3-4 hrs after a sweep coz we have 2 construction sites in front of us. I rely heavily on the filters but I agree they take effort. I only brush the pump as needed since I’m scared of the vinegar rinse lol

Ah. That’s sounds so much better if it’s just a dash! I’ve always thought it’s 50-50 part water to vinegar

Yes, I hate those slimy bowls. They say high-fired ceramic bows help resist film build up but yeah, it’s all about just regular cleaning too
