Anyone make their own carpet shampoo?

I bought a new steam cleaner, which came with a little bottle of shampoo.

It isn't one of these, exactly, but it's close enough for our purposes.

I have decided that I hate Scotchgard®, and finding a shampoo without the stuff is becoming increasingly difficult. To be clear, I'm not asking for assistance in finding a shampoo. I am curious about people's feelings on Scotchgard® and carpet cleaners in general, and if anyone makes their own carpet cleaner.

I have a hoover floor cleaner and I use the measurement cup the give full of vinegar and a little bit of blue dawn soap. Not too much, or it goes super foamy. Just about a teaspoon full. It works just as well as the hoover floor cleaner formulas and it doesn't have too many chemicals in it. If you try it with your machine just try a few drops of soap first, and work your way up to more to make sure you don't have bubbly carpets.

i dont have carpet in the house , but i do make my own laundry soap and scrubs and other natural things to use around the house inside and out.
