Shawn(my boyfriend) is a professor and apparently the college he teaches at does not have enough money to pay their adjunct professors. The college thought they would have enough until February, but Illinois is running out of money. Other Illinois universities are facing this same thing. Hopefully this money thing gets resolved, but if it doesn't he has applied to some colleges in Missouri. I will keep you guys informed. I am very upset and sick to my stomach now because of all this.

I am a teacher myself and Michigan is in the same boat--only maybe a little worse with our high unemployment rate and the auto industry woes--more and more things get cut every day it seems. :Frown: I'm just lucky I have 18yrs. in at my school--would have to be some pretty bad cuts for me to lose my job. (Thank God)
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and pray it all works out for you. In the meantime--hugs and warm, loving thoughts go your way from our house to yours.:Kissed:

My man is practically the breadwinner in our relationship bringing in almost double what I do per hour. They started laying people off last month. He's got over 5 years in the business...so he was one of the last considered. My best advice: Prepare now and worry only if it happens.

I totally feel your pain!! I've been jobless for about a year and a half now. I was a head loan officer at a bank, and was one of the higher paid people. Which apparently put me really high for the chopping block. Instead of firing me outright, they were cowards and said they they were taking the position away and that they don't do Demotions. I was completely blindsighted! But you know what, I truly believe things happen for a reason. If it does happen just think of it as a new door that will open. I've had some things in life that have come up for me that I never thought I would do. Also i've had a chance to spend more time with my husband while he is home from sea. Time with him is precious, becuse he is gone for 9 months out of a whole year. So try and think positive. There are worse things that can happen :)

Definitely a scary situation. I'm so sorry you have to think about this possible burden. We wish you and your boyfriend the best!
