Only my Boo is a biter---he likes to nip my finger tips. All mine bit my toes and stuff when they were babies, but when they did, I would just sharply say no, pick them up, put them on my lap, and love them up a little bit then put them back down on the floor. I had more problems with climbing my legs--they were always bloody.

I'm so glad Frank can't climb me! I bet he would if he could too.

The more accustomed we get with each other the better he is with his biting. He knows what I mean when I say 'Be Nice'. I have given in just a bit and allow him to be playful with my hand so long as he does not bite hard and then I will stop the playing by changing my tone and saying Be Nice. I would say 80% of the time he listens but sometimes he just can't snap out of it so I will clap my hands together very loud and it startles him and he runs off. After he 'collects' himself he's usually fine.

Gryff after getting fixed a week ago has cut down on his biting considerably. It's almost weird, LOL.

Belly is a definite lure... lol Sashimi has a new nickname of "Chainsaw", she can really get me. However, the rough hand play with all the biting, chirping, back legs digging, still only happens with me, not so much my boys or my husband. I guess that's where biting the hand that feeds you comes from.

She has her times when she wants to fight. When we wake up she's a purring machine, so it must be part of her routine. I have fun with it.

My Boone is a biter too. I think most Sphynx are biters. I've heard some even go after their owner's nose!:Surprise: I have so many scratches (even w/ clipped nails) & bite marks on my hands, arms, shoulders & back. Seems he bites the hardest when I try to tickle his tummy. I've just accepted the fact. You may have to also.

Sashimi has been given "Chainsaw" as her middle name. My hands are banged up as well. She is 6 months old, will her behavior get worse, stay the same, or subside?

She has really been aggressive the last few days. I'm not sure if it's because I left for 4 days??? She's really biting my had and grabbing me. I try to stop her, but she just keeps on attacking my hand. (only my right hand too).

Hi Megarot,

Being declawed can definatley cause a cat to bite way more, afterall it is now their only defense. I agree with a lot of the advise given so far. Spray bottle, yelling OW or NO, Dumping him off your lap or pushing him far enough away from you that he is out of arms reach.

Also you say that he wont initiate play on his own. You alway initiate with a toy of some sort. I would recommend that you use something that keeps your hands out of harms way such as a teaser toy of a laser. Maybe part of his biting is mostly play related or a way to get attention. Of course you dont want to reward negative attention.

Have you done any online research? Or looked at pet behaviour specialists sites? I know there is a vet in my area who helps with these types of things. Maybe there is someone near you.

I am surprised to hear so many people say that their Sphynx are biters. I have rarley dealt with any cat that bites. Even my Vito who should have a biting problem after being declawed is an angel even at the Vets. Im sorry you are having these problems, makes it hard to enjoy your baby.

Hope you find a solution.

Thats very possible. She probably missed you a lot. I notice that Boone bites when he's excited during playtime. Sometimes he'll lick me afterwards... which only makes me think the biting is a display of intense affection for me. Not sure. I mostly have scabs from his claws, not really from his teeth. I've had him for 9 months now, & his biting is @ the same frequency, so not sure if yours will quiet down as she ages. Boone isn't even 18 months old yet. Still a youngin'

Strangely this makes me feel so much better. As the days go by she seems to be easing up on me a little. She still packs a mean bite, and here I thought I should watch her claws (I keep them cut however) but I thought her feet would do more damage. Boone isn't 18 months yet you say, I have a long way to go. Perhaps I should invest in some armor. :Dizzy:

I never gave it much thought but Moses does the same exact thing! When we are playing he will bite my hand but then stop and lick it when he is done biting! Biting is not a problem for him though, he only does it during really rough play, usually initiated by me!

Hi Everyone! I'm looking for some advice for a possible behavioral issue. Rupert is 13 month old neutered boy. For 90% of the day, he is extremely lovey and almost too co-dependent (especially with me, his mom). He always wants to be held by me or ride along on my husband's shoulders. Lately, however, when he isn't getting our full attention or if he seems frustrated he goes into attack mode on my face, arms, and neck. His eyes will get full black, he snorts and huffs in frustration and then leaps. He's getting stronger every month and it's starting to scare me a little.

We have tried redirection with smaller size stuffed animals. We play with him on average for about 30 minutes to an hour every night (either playing fetch with a hair tie or with a feather dancer). My husband's theories are that he's hungry and knows that if he's mean I'll feed him. I do not give in---he's eating about 3 oz of wet every day and a cup of dry. We've tried Feliway and have not noticed much of a difference. He also believes that Rupert sees me as his territory and anytime he can't access me he gets aggressive. Is this a thing?

I will never re-home him, so don't worry about that. We are together forever and just need to figure out what's upsetting him so much. Any ideas???

Don't have too much advice sadly but a question about his food quantity is that what the breeder was feeding him? As my boy gets about double the amount of wet food in a day as your baby does? He gets roughly 85g (2.9oz) of wet at 5:30am and at 6pm then has dry food available throughout the day. Not an expert but that could be a reason.
