So I went took my 6 month Sphynx to the Vet to get her shots & a routine check up, I asked him about a problem I heard with the breathing noise I hear coming from her. he wasn't much help, but he did point out that the it sounded like it was coming from her nose.

My wife usually cleans the sphynx every week, & I feed her wet food in the morning & in the evening & dry food is there for her to snack on all day.

PROBLEM: The sphynx seems to be getting this black oil in her nostrols I clean it out her nose with water on a Q-tip. But I am affriad that I may be pushing the black oil further into her nose but it crusts up & it seems I have to clean it out every 3 days or so, whats going on here, Is this normal?

Also is there anything I can do to help with this any nose prducts for the cat or anything thanks..

P.S I am also worried about irritating the nose area of the cat like someone that wipes there nose to many times & it starts to hurt..
It seems I need to soak the dry brown oil or crust on her nose & side lips first to soften it up to wipe it off is there a oil remover for this purpose?
Thank you again.

@LvxMagick yes it is very common. I use a tiny dab of coconut oil on bath days and it helps loosen the gunk. If I tried to keep pristine I would be cleaning it every day and my cats would not be happy lol so I only clean on bath days. I remember our first Sphynx I thought had a black nose until I saw others share this problem so I really scrubbed…and all came off and his nose was pink! I also use my wet exfoliating glove when I use the coconut oil. I do not use coconut oil on any other parts of my cats as it can clog pores and make them dirtier.

Oh my hat I too have this problem. I some times need to pick his nose. Especially in Winter when the air is so dry from heaters. It appears to be at its worst.
I have two massive humidifiers in my house that pumps out 5 litres of moisture into the air. It really does help. I have one in the living room and bedroom They are on 24/7
