Hello, all sweet Sphynx owners. My sweet Kafka has been struggling with bloody diarrhea. We have previously been to the doctor with him where he was put on a bland diet, which unfortunately did not help his stool. So we took him to the vet last Tuesday. We had him tested for giardia, but the test came back negative. Therefore, our doctor concluded that Kafka has allergies. He received a corticosteroid injection, and now we are giving him a course of Medrol. We have also switched his food to Specific FOW-HY, which is an allergy-friendly diet. Additionally, we are giving him diapaste. I have observed his stool, and it no longer contains blood, but it has changed to a yellowish/orange color. It is still loose and not firm in any way.

Therefore, I would like to hear your experiences with hydrolyzed food. And your experiences with what can be done for cats suffering from gastrointestinal issues.

Giardia tests often comes back false negative. Did your vet talk about possibly treating them for it just to cover all bases? Many vets do as the treatment won’t hurt them.
