Hey lovely people
I took my little boy to the vets last week for a scan as he has a heart murmur and my other cat is diagnosed with asthma and my other passed the rainbow bridge last year from hcm which is little boys mum and dad it was unknown of there medical conditions before they had babies they was given all clear, anyway the vet said little boy is boarder line HCM and has a small growth on he’s artery but she said he’s not at a stage for any medication and just to keep an eye on him for any signs being a extremely paranoid person I’m thinking nothing but the worse and all threads I find on hcm are frightening but nothing says about borderline what does she mean? Is there anything I can do for him? He’s currently on a diet as he’s always been a big boy from birth but is classified as overweight which I can’t understand as he doesn’t eat anymore than my other one who is half he’s size can anyone explain the borderline part please? And anything I should avoid? Any extras he needs?
Love and smooches to your babies x

Here’s a photo of little boy❤️

@Pandorasmum , hugs, we are here for you. members will surely chime in. so many of us have been on the journey. each kitty is different and some are put on meds and some not on meds atm.

what is your adorable boys name? i
I am sorry your other nakid gained angel wings. remember the love soo much love.

For peace of mind, I would definitely ask his vet what bordeline means and to answer any questions you have . I wrote questions down so I did not forget. did they not recommend meds at this time? how old is he?

sharing my Yoda had HCM for nearly a decade , no meds, no signs. enjoyed a full life of love .

hugs n head smooches , keep us updated often. deep breath, you got this, we are here for you. all paws are family.

ps: My vet suggested a lower sodium food . He liked weruva press your lunch , dry matter sodium .32 % which was even lower than some Rx foods. I brought the can to my vet to show her. I mixed weruva which is chicken jello like with water and mushed to soupy. the dry matter % of food is what is important per my vet, not what % is listed on the bag. You can ask your vet about heart health food suggestions.

HCM is so tricky…some can be diagnosed and go years with no progression and others can show no sign and bam which is what we recently dealt with. The good thing is you have a baseline. You are doing your best.

Thank you for response he’s name is little boy as he is the image of he’s dad so little boy just stuck I feed them a high quality diet and freeze dried treats that he has to work/hunt for which he really enjoys he’s a happy and energetic boy very vocal when I asked she just said not quite the level of meds yet but we need to monitor him so wasn’t very informative so I tried researching myself which I can’t find the borderline part anywhere so I’m confused he’s got no signs like my other boy with the coughing weightloss loss of appetite etc he literally coughed once and I rushed him straight to the vet and he’s coughed once more since then other than that no signs he’s 3 next month he’s a happy content boy but I want him to live a long happy comfortable life and provide him with what ever he needs x
