Hola Lairians! Does your sphynx suck??

... Kenzo has serious suckling tendencies. It’s not quite to the point of a ‘compulsive behavior,’ but it’s definitely a habit. He mainly does it before he goes to sleep every night, or if he’s feeling especially affectionate during the day.

I’ve noticed a trend with suckling seeming to be a male dominated sphynx behavior (post-kittenhood). This is far from scientific, but I’d like to see which gender sucks the most. :cat::p

Please comment below the gender(s) of your sphynx and whether they Do or Do Not suckle.

Also, feel free to add whether they grew out of this behavior, and any other interesting tidbits! I tried to make a poll, but I’m not high enough up the food chain, lol.

Kenzo.
Male.
Sucky AF.
Only on bare human skin.

Only one male suckles on his brother in the morning and not every day now that he is getting older.

1 Sphynx
Male 9 months

He used to suckle a lot for the first few months after we brought him home, mostly when a bit tired and wanting to snuggle, or if he'd had a bit of a fright. He kept trying to suckle, but after his adult teeth came in, he just couldn't seem to get a good 'suck-grip' and it seemed to just annoy him then! He was the only kitten hand reared in a litter of 6, and the breeder said none of his siblings would suckle, so I thought that was why. Now I've learnt it seems to be a (sphynx?) trait in many, hand reared or not, but I would have no clue if it's more males than females o_O

Looks like you're up to something @Monica

4 sphynx
2 males
2 females

1 boy used to suck but grew out of it

And....1 GIRL tries to suck but she's doesn't know how. She's hand reared and never learned this from her mommy.
So still....no girls, only boys.

Oh and when I saw the title of your thread I tought you ment "boys suck" in the way like "boys are worthless/not nice" :wideyed::ROFLMAO:

Yes Niko is a suckler and does not matter night or day lol. He actually gave a bit of a hicky the other day he was sucking so hard. He needs my face at the same time. When he's done your face and neck are soaked lol. At 3 am is when he gets a no lol. Mama is too tired at that time. But he melts my heart at other times and can't so no

@Catzzzmeow :wideyed: amputation?!? I’m assuming this is for ones that do it as a obsessive compulsive behavior on themselves? I saw a thread about tail-sucking, but I never correlated it to the same behavior... that’s frightening

@Toa and Ross Yes... I admit. The title was click-bait. :joyful: I had been pondering this for awhile though. Out of Kenzo’s hundreds of IG friends, I kept seeing posts of males suckling on blankets or their owners. My friend’s sphynx boy does it too! Maybe just a coincidence

My Binky used to suckle her teets every night when I asked the vet he said it’s usally a comfort thing and she with probably grow out of it! She’s one and half now and although she still does it, it’s not as often! She always suckled the same one so it looks a bit weird haha...! She’l be needing an Underwired bra the time she’s 2! Xxx

We have 1 male and 1 female. Our girl doesn’t suckle at all, but our boy (Toby) will try to suckle - specifically on our nipples - any chance he gets. We didn’t bring him home until he was 14 weeks old so he definitely wasn’t taken away from his mum too soon. He’s 6 months old now so fingers crossed he grows out of it!
