Hello friends,
I'm sorry I've been away ,and even worse that it's taken so long to be able to write this.
I've spent over a decade with Brienne "Nanners". She was the second sphynx I had ever had the honor of owning. She helped to heal the massive hole from my loss of Smaug. She fit right in and became a household staple. She's been with me through a messy divorce, job changes, a cross country move, the birth of my daughter and so much more in the decade plus we've spent together. She was a good sphynx ambassador while also having her awkward, silly personality.
Earlier this year she started losing weight and I was quickly able to figure out she needed a dental and some extractions. Since then she's been great then a few weeks ago she started to lose some weight again. That was quickly fixed by changing her diet. Then she stopped eating. Her coloring was beginning to yellow. Her breathing as well was struggled. It was such a big change so quickly. Her normal vet of course was gone and we went in to a emergency vet.
I went in with a elderly cat who was having several issues and left with empty arms and a empty heart. Her heart was falling, her liver was falling and ultimately her body was failing. It was a very kind and peaceful passing. I knew it was time when sitting with her in the room and I offered her the ultimate treat. Something she's ripped apart bags of before. She smelled it and that was all. No spark in her eyes. Making that choice, I wanted to sit in that room, in that space forever. I wanted to freeze that time and milk every second.
Saratina, my little thing, has missed her so much. She just turned 4 and she has grown in so much confidence due to Brienne. I can tell she misses her and she definitely has been spending more time with mama. My heart breaks that shes lost her sister, her snuggle partner, and her rock. Im luckily on break so I'll be able to give her lots of snuggles.
