Hi! My baby boy's name is Buddy, he is 1 year 3 months! His breeder did not feed him wet food, after a year I FINALLY got him to start eating wet food, however right as he turned a year old, he started chewing on anything he could find. When I got him to start eating the wet food, he started chewing less. BUT its still a problem. He will chew on shoe laces, or sweatshirt strings etc. He does have chew toys! Anyone have any good ideas on how to help him to stop chewing?!

Thanks so much!!!!

Do you now only feed him wet? Or do you leave dry out for him as well? Maybe his still teething

Hello @Theodora and welcome to Sphynxlair! So glad you found us! You could try Grannick bitter Apple and put it on his favorite things to chew. Please enjoy the community! (y)

Welcome to sphynxlair, good to have you.
Handsome little gentleman, you have.
You could give him a shoelace of his own.
Just don't let him have it unsupervised, he could eat and swallow
some or a lot and need surgery. I would redirect his attention to
a toy and say no.

Welcome to you and very handsome Buddy! My Claire Bare has a running shoe lace fetish ..she is 4 yrs old! :)
We play catch and fetch to redirect toss ping pong balls and
redirect with a great toy - "Da Bird "
** only use a pole or string toy supervised and put away in a closet when done-

A firm "no" , redirect and praise / treats when playing with something appropriate-
A kicker toy , etc

Also, please be sure to throw away dental floss in a garbage outside since you know Buddy likes string types

Buddy is probably like my Toby adoptee in his teenage brat time :)
I am always training him

(Good idea to do a visual check at his teeth for any signs of irritation)

Enjoy the forums! Looking forward to your journey with a Buddy!
