Lighthearted rant:

I love my babies to death, and always I'm happy to snuggle with them. The trouble is getting them to that snuggling point. Does anyone else have a cat or a (hopefully) small dog that just paces and turns around in your lap, rather than planting their fuzzy little rump? I was staying with friends, a few weeks ago, and their cat understood how this is supposed to work!

Why don't my loving little gremlins get it? : (

Marcus only sits in my lap to torture Cleopatra, who owns my lap, or as a prelude to trying to make me leave the chair. He sits for about 2 minutes, then starts walking around me, digging at my shoulders and legs, trying to make me get up. If I do, he sits in the warm chair. If I don’t, he will escalate by playing with everything he’s not supposed to do. Sigh...

My girl Jade never sits on my lap. And now I think of it...my boy Toa is glued to my chest or sitting next to me but never on my lap. Only Ross understands the idea of a lap cat now and then!

Cats seem to gravitate to my lap, even when they aren't mine!
My housemates always complain that the cats choose to sit on me, and my partner's mum was impressed that her usually anti-social cat likes to snuggle with me.
Honestly, I think it's because I sit pretty still once I am comfy, and I let them choose to come to me for cuddles instead of coaxing them over or picking them up. Kitties like to play hard to get. Let them come to you, and then shower them with attention and praise. Maybe chat to them about your day or what's on the telly.
I use to be heavily allergic to them, and now I live with three paw-babies who lick my face to wake me up.
