Cat's got bad GI problems

hey all, kinda new to this site but I got plenty of problems in my household. my girlfriend's sphynx (Roman) is just around 6 months old and he wont stop pooping diarrhea. we've taken him to the vet lately to get him neutered and during that time we got his diet changed to a different brand by recommendation from the vet (we were giving him easy digestion foods before hand, no milk or other foods besides his designated food and water). Before I was about to leave to work, he went into his litterbox to urinate. he is awful when it comes to tracking poop on his feet and tail so we usually camp outside the room to wipe him down with baby wipes. however, while he was in the middle of covering up his urine he let out a burst of diarrhea out of the litterbox (he was facing away from the opening) on to this litter mat! the consistency was close to being soup like and he was letting out a good bit of gas (as he always does). I was just surprised that there was no warning to this since he dint even squat or try to shovel up litter beforehand like he usually does. any recommendations on habit changes to help him not cover himself in poop and/or ways to help harden his stool? we will be going to see a vet in a week or so I am not too worried about home remedies for his fecal consistencies yet. the damn cats already gotten poop on our new couch!

Understand your frustration. FWIW I'm sure the poor little guy is not only not doing it on purpose, he probably also doesn't feel so good. I don't know what you're feeding him but if you could afford it, raw food has helped a lot of cats with GI upset.

I’m assuming the last time you were at the vet they ruled out GI bugs such as giardia?

Assuming that is true, diet changes are likely what is needed here. The very best thing you could do is go raw. This way there are no additive ingredients and you can control the protein and keep him away from any that cause him trouble.

I also want to voice that I too, think he does not likely feel good. I’m sure the explosion took him off guard as well. That can’t be fun.

Did the vet rule out Giardia , tritrichomonas ?
I would definitely consult his vet and ask about ruling out any parasite causes
and follow your vets recommendations
You can call ahead and ask if they would like you to bring a poo sample

Poop problems can be very frustrating. For you and your boy cause having diarrhea all the time will make him feel unwell.
My boy had diarrhea for about the first 6 months when I got him. It was a long way to find the food that was good for him.
Did tge vet do all the test for parasites like giardia?

Update: hey all, Romans poops been solid for a few days and we didn't make much changes. Maybe it was stress but infections have been ruled out. Thanks for caring about our naked mole ratcat!

Hey everyone, so this happened. Again. The little ratcat is practically leaking diarrhea as he is moving in the litter box... Covers his tail in his anal soup and tries to run as I yanking him out to hose him down the problem is that it's not consistent enough for me deduce it to be a infection as I'm not home all the time to monitor his stool. May need more vet visits soon

I would definitely recommend a vet visit. That doesn't look fun for your poor baby. He may have a parasite, you could try and give him some pure pumpkin to try and firm things up if you aren't already. Do you give any probiotics? My crew goes crazy for the Purina Fortiflora, they will literally lick the empty packet after if I forget to throw it out!

Definitely agree with the vet visit... better to get a diagnosis , treatment.
dehydration can come into play with with chronic diarrhea .

Does he eat treats? This can cause poo issues too
My crew only gets dental kibble as treats with their senrive tummies

You can call ahead and ask about taking a stool sample to check for Giardia or tri tri, rule out parasite and check for blood I’m stool that may not be visible to the naked eye .

Vet can check his history too and info on his dewormer he may have had from the breeder?

I go with the others and recommend a vet visit. With that kind of watery diarrhea he probably feels unwell and not happy himself. Hope the vet can find out what is causing the diarrhea

Yes that is very watery. Should be a vet visit. If not a parasite could be inflammation in the colon, an intestinal blockage, intussiception, etc.

Update: taken to vet because of an eye emergency(feline herpes), didn't find the time for vets. This poops not as watery as the picture but it's on and off still. Trying to arrange vet visits soon

@ButteryBuddha to share my adoptee eye issue was prescribed oflaxacin and then idoxurine from the eye specialist ,
The idoxurije drops and vet idrops for lubrication cleared it all up .
Specialist didn’t test for feline herpes saying we could get false results .
He had a corneal sequestrum and then secondary inflammation keratosis .

A lair full of vibes for eyes and bumm!

@ButteryBuddha oh no! Hope you got into the vet today!

Ask about bringing a poo sample to check ..l would ask about possible parasites as , anal gland issues , IBD, or even positivity he hate something he shouldn’t have ,rule out blockage are just some, of the things that come to mind.

It’s my understanding bright red blood may indicate something going on in lower intestinal tract .
You need to catch a break with your sweetie ... soo so sorry going through these issues ..

Thank you all for your concerns. Unfortunately both my girlfriend and I are working ATM but my parent another happen to be vetrinarians attempting a short fasting for the morning to noon to see how his bowels behave. We don't suspect a GI bleed since Roman has so much vigor in him afterward all this. Might be some other factor but we'll keep you guys posted.

Hmm. It is bright red
But I also see some oily yellow residue. This makes me think immediately that he could be having issues with his anal glands.
