Cleo has Chlamydia from being shown

Cleos eye is dripping thick green stuff and her face is swollen.
We went to the vet and it is Chlamydia.
The vet said it was from being shown.
WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO SHOW SICK CATS?
She is not the only cat that has it from that show.

It will get better.
The vet gave Clavamox and Terramycin.
He said if it does not help by sat to come back.
Cleo sees the vet on monday again.

I remember thinking at the last show I went to, how easy it would be to spread germs there. They do spray cleaner in between each cat on the table, but its just a quick squirt and a wipe, hardly seems like enough to really sanitize if the cat was actually carrying any germs, and I don't recall seeing anyone clean out the cages the cats were kept in in the ring...scary!

I'm so sorry for both you and Cleo. It really stinks it has to be that way, because it could discourage you and others to show, out of fear of sickness. I hope she's better soon

They do spray the cages but it is a quick spray.
I am so careful also.
Cleo was so nice at the vet even though her eye hurts.
Now I can not take her to be HCM scanned a wee from sat.
Her poor eye is still dripping green stuff.

Wow, is it going to take that long to recover or is there another reason you have to wait? I had Nelson's HCM scan done while he was on antibiotics for his eye. I told the cardiologist about it, and she didn't have any objections. Otherwise I would have had to wait until January for the next HCM clinic.

Oh, yeah, that makes sense. Too bad the person who brought the sick cat to the last show wasn't so thoughtful, Cleo wouldn't be in this mess. That's such a bummer. Well, I hope she's all better soon and they have another HCM clinic at the next cat show. Good luck!

I like to know how the sick cat got past the judges.
A judge will send a cat home if they see it is sick.

She is so afraid of her kittens getting something from a show.
I have not told her that Cleo got sick from a show.
