I got some coconut oil on monday, it's great! rubbed it all over Mo yesterday before his bath, and he came up sparkling!!! Why didn't I get this before?! It's great stuff. Quite difficult to get hold of Mo when it's on him! But it really works.

Okay so I feel stupid, how does it work exactly? I keep hearing about it but I don't know what to do with it. Just put it on Alice and then bathe her? Where to do I get it? Care to share?

Yea just rub it on and then bathe them! It loosens up the dirt and it just comes right off with a sponge! Its great under the arms/belly/bottom/nose etc! And it makes them smell delicious! Oh and Mo feels soooo soft!

Yup, rub it on them before the bath. I get the 100% pure coconut oil from the baking section of my grocery store, costs about $3 for a big bottle of it. And the name is deceiving, it isn't liquid like an oil but it's hard like lard. I put the jar in a bowl of hot water and melt it before putting it on the kitty but lots of people here just dip their hands in and smear it on and let the kitty heat melt it as they rub it on. Then bathe with soap, I use Johnson's Baby Wash and it all comes right off. Pedda is prone to dry skin and dandruff and it really helps.

Let the kitty heat melt it? Oh how cute. I have got to get some of this stuff. Maybe it will work on my nine year old son's grime. Of to the store I go.

Loki has a vet appointment in the morning, and I had planned on giving him a bath tonight. I saw this post, and thought, how wonderful! But, no coconut oil on hand, alas. I did have a bunch of mango butter from when I made bath bombs last Christmas, so I gave it a try. Wow! Grime washed off him in the bath that we didn't even know was there! Thanks so much for the tip.

Yes,,,coconut oil is the bomb!

With Snuffie being so dark its really hard to tell if she's dirty unless I put clothes on her to see if she causes any "rings". When I started using this stuff tho, wow , what a difference it made. It really helps to loosen up the dirt and grim and oh yes,,,love that sweet coconut smell!

I actually picked up a $12 tub the other day so I could try this on my greasy, stinky yellow lab. I only used it on her pits and underbelly, but I was impressed how much grime came off. I can hardly believe that after 2 days her pits are still relatively clean and don't smell. Yay for coconut oil!

Coconut oil is my best friend when I go to bathe Kenny. His paws get so gross and it gets the dirt right off! I also put just a little dab of it on his nose, I saw to do that in a video I watched on how to bathe a sphynx. He likes the way it tastes too, he's such a fattie!

I had the same disaster, bathed Bluebelle on Sunday and on Monday well, her belly and hind quarters and neck and armpits were pretty much orange the morning after lol.. She's still orange now so I guess its bath time again for her although Im reluctant to do it before the weekend because I know you can over wash them and I don't want to upset her skin. I suppose I will flannel her down until Sunday, it's a shame because coconut oil seems like such a good idea, and I was pretty sure I washed it all off, she had a really good scrub and rinse after using it.

I had tried using the coconut oil without mixing it into warm water, and found it was extremely difficult to remove all the oil residue. You think you have rinsed them enough but the higher concentration of pure coconut oil was too intense to effectively remove.

Once I started mixing the coconut oil with warm water and applying it, the oil residue was much easier to rinse away. Still got the full cleaning effect and the lovely scent, just didn't have to rinse and rinse and rinse forever. Plus this c oil/H2O solution was easy to squirt up under his legs and settled into the dirtier folds of skin easier. Also my coconut oil supply will last a lot longer now too.

I use the Coconut oil and wash Snuffie twice to get the residue off. I'm sure this isnt practical for Sphynx who are less happy about bath times. Luckily Snuffie is good, watch,,my SoBe will hate baths. lol

The coconut oil definitely helps but it doesn't break up all the oil on Sophie's claws. Not in the paw skin folds but gunk on the claws themselves. I do rub the coconut oil on them and it must help some but it is still hard to scrape off. Anyone else have that happen?

I think it is great on her belly which gets all dirty when it is time for a bath!

Yes, I have found the oil does not help get the GUNK off of the nails themselves. But I have found that using a drop of ear cleaner pulls it right off! lol I know its not meant for that but I was out of wipes one night and tried that and it came right off with no effort at all hardly. I use wipes on her nails 99% of the time but I've used her ear cleaner on her nails in a pinch.

I've used the ear cleaner but I feel bad because I've accidentally gotten it in my mouth and :Badly: it tastes horrible I feel bad for her. I use a wipe, the ear cleaner and dilute some in warm water and it does get it off just not as quickly she wants is probably the key. :Hysterical: How does she get her nails so filthy anyway!?

I think next time I use coconut oil I might try just putting it into the bath water instead of onto Mo's skin directly. Think this will work?
