Hey everyone,

I love my bambino, Piglet. She is the greatest pet ever but unfortunately she is always sick and she is only 2. She had a cold day 1 when I recieved her and keeps getting worse.

In March 2014 one of her blue eyes started to turn green. I took her to many vets and it was monitored closely. We tried many treatments but it kept getting worse. It developed blood clots on the inner cornea then glaucoma until it eventually burst. She is now missing one eye.

In August 2014 she starting rolling instead of walking. As a biology student I knew that this was a neurological symptom and took her to the best hospital in the country right away. After a day she couldn't walk. It has been a couple months now and she is walking but has difficulty since she wobbles and she has a rather silly jump.

The vets say it is from poor breeding. If that is the case some of you should have a similar story. I still don't know exactly what has caused this even though I have spent a years tuition on vet bills. If it is a case of bad breeding people should be warned. If it's not genetic I'm hoping you guys can help me get to the bottom of it.

Thank you

@Avery,(( hugs))) to you to for being the best parent Piglet can have surrounded by love and the utmost care...
Please give adorable Pget extra head kisses from me.

I know @DarkWing has had recent issues with a wobbly walk kitty lil Rocket and may have some insight..

I can offer my sincere best wishes and support to you and Piglet.

I have not had the identical health issue experiences .. But.. Truly understand what you go and Piglet go through..

My first Sphynx pictured in my avatar was a bday present surprise from my fiance. She had health issues her whole life.. As I learned, she was from a very bad breeder who scammed several selling sick kitties.. It breaks my heart the kitties, mums n dad's go through hell because of their greed and unscrupulous breeding.

There are no guarantees with kitties and there are many many reputable breeders that breed for the love and betterment of the breed.. They follow every precaution with careful breeding , testing etc and some kitties still fall ill..

We are here for you and Piglet.. We all support each other through sickness and in health with our babies..

Sending a huge ((cyber hug ))) across the miles- we really do care

Have you tried supplementing with L-lysine?

I am also clueless as to what it could be or how to treat it, but I can also relate to your problems. I will pray you find an answer for this baby. Please keep us posted.

I did use lysine for about a year but with the medication she was just on she couldn't have it. I think once she is done with what she has now I'll pick it back up. It didn't seem to help a whole buch but she loves the taste of it so I see no harm :) Thank you all for the good wishes.

Your welcome! Please keep us updated on Piglet! I just want to give her big kisses!

Are there veterinary universities in your area you can contact for some info on studies they may have done and have research on?

Poor baby! Bless you for giving her the attention and love she needs. Your a true SPHYNX mom. Your her angel. It disgusts me that people do not care about the health and integrity of the breed, all they see are $ signs. I wish there could be something done about breeders like this. This baby is so lucky she has you in her life. Praying for Piglet.

I agree touch base with @DarkWing They have been having an ongoing issue that seems to be neurological. I am sorry this has been so stressful on you and your beautiful baby.

She's been going to the vet clinic associated with the best vet college in the country. Even they are stumped without doing a $6000 MRI. Thank you for the advice. I'll check out dark wing's forums

@Avery, Perhaps with some letter writing and contacts to the higher ups at the vet college they would put Piglet in a "complimentary " MRI " study " to be used by stumped folks there for the betterment of kitty health for all breeds -
It would be a plus in their hat for progress and help Piglet and other kitties around the world :)

Just a thought ;)

@DarkWing and I have basically the exact same symptoms with the same timing. Even licking weird things! That's what seems to baffle the doctors most. She licks anything cold and hard. It is a sign of anemia. I have since done roughly 12 blood tests and every single one is completely normal.

@DarkWing you should talk to your vet about starting your kitten on prednisone, antibiotics, and famotidine. It made a big difference for Piglet.
