Ok I have 2 sphynx kitties. The younger of the two has realllllly dirty ears.. like I clean them for 20+ mins and there is still stuff in there it seems. He also chews on his back claws, I was thinking maybe he has allergies. My older boy never has had ths issue. I have changed both the litter and food to see if it would help, but nothing has worked. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you!

It's my understanding that some sphynx just have dirtiers ears than others. But there could also be an underlying problem like an infection or ear mites. So I would have a vet look at his ears and if they're ok maybe let a groomer or vet give them a really thorough cleaning.
How do you clean their ears? Make sure you really massage the cleaner in the ear canal for about a minute, let them shake and then remove the cleaner and wax. But perhaps you're already doing that...
Good luck!

Thank you both for responding. I do put the cleaner in the ear, massage it and then Fire Truck shakes his head for a few moments. Then I take a cottonball and try and wipe it out. It just seems like it just keeps coming.

I put the ear solution right on the cotton ball (1 for each ear). Stick it in & massage the base of each ear & wipe as I'm withdrawing the cotton ball. Then I use a dry cotton swab for each ear... using each end of the the swab on each ear.. to get into all the nooks n' crannies. I don't think they like it when the solution is put directly into their ears.

That I just needed to keep em clean, that some kitties just have build up, but they looked healthy. I have an appointment with a new vet for both my little boys just to get a second opinion and a check up. :)

I took the boys to get their annual check up a little early (only a cpl weeks), since we moved to a new area the boys have a new vet. Office was great, friendly staff and Dr.. prices.. were amazing. Any way, looks like Fire Truck does have allergies, poor little guy while I was getting the Dr to check out his ears he did a ear cytology and there was a small, tiny bit of yeast infection! Too knock it out before it could get any worse with his allergies we got him some meds, and should be cleared up in not time. However, the poor guy has allergies just like his human Daddy. :(
