Hello, does anyone know what this discoloration is on my donskoy sphynx? Ive had her 5 years, i thought it was dirt but since using coconut oil it seems to have spread and got dramatically worse in a week!
Its dominant on her neck and stomach. Please help edna!

I’d stop the coconut oil. When did you bathe last and use the coconut oil? Did it get worse right after using it?

Yes it got worse after using it, i used it initially to remove what i thought was some grease stains, she had them for while i couldnt shift but now im thinking it might be a infection! Shes well in herself no sign of illness just skin problem.

The Sphynx community is really steering away from coconut oil as we are discovering a lot of issues with it. It still has its uses but is no longer recommended as body moisturizer. Great alternatives are olive oil and argan oil. It does look like yeast likely to me. You can buy shampoo to use to help get rid of it.

Thank for the advice, i have researched and found a shampoo called douxo which is said to help yeast so will give it a go and hopefully helps!

Yes the duoxo is a great shampoo for sphynx skincare. I use the chlohexadine shampoo for my girl who is prone to yeast infection due to allergies.

Thank you for replying, that's really positive.i have my fingers crossed it works for edna. Do you know what allergies your girl has?
Yes, unfortunately she is allergic to too much stuff that I give allergy serum injections. She sees a dermatologist/allergist every 6mo or so. Prior to that she would get horrible yeast/skin infections that she was constantly on antibiotics and antifungal medications. I posted here the original link of our whole process/ordeal.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, i dont feel confident in my vets as they dont have much knowledge on her breed.
A vet doing a skin scraping and analysis under the microscope will give you the information on the correct product to buy to fix the issue.

took a couple of weeks. each kitties. condition varies. there are different products vet may suggest depending on skin scraping results. I have malaseb, trizchlor4 on hand for my pups. I have Duoxo and trizultra for my nakids.

positive for baby Edna. please keep us updated.

We currently have covid so no vet is willing to see her. If the douxo hasnt helped by the end of our isolation i will take her in see what they say! So worrying, i bathed her in douxo yesterday so far no change! Keeping my fingers crossed?
Any advice on how many times i should bathe her in the douxo welcome? Not specified on bottle.

I would say twice a week. It may take several applications before you see a significant change.
