No, I don't think it's gross, but with four cats and just me living with them, I'd never get any food if I let them eat off my plate! ...It's hard enough trying to eat with 8 eyeballs staring at me and Walter's paw reaching up swatting food out of my hand, lol. :Dizzy:

I'll get back to you on this in about 2 months! LOL

I only had one cat that was allowed to do as she pleased, mostly because we just couldn't stop her. My other cats will wait patiently for a chicken or shrimp handout but are polite enough not to take from the plate.

Ok I am real bad our table is like A crazy place at dinner time and I have to eat super fast because I am busy the whole time making sure the cats are happy and keeping them away from everyones plate they sit by me on the table:Woo: with there but in our daughters face (she is always complaining) and I cut up whatever it is we are having! Leo eats anything and Athena sticks with pasta, turkey and chicken!
When we have company I do put them in another room when we eat! I have started something that is probably not very proper but oh well my house and my happy cats!

Eight eyeballs  that cracked me up!

I definitely do not think it is gross at all. My bf is more the one that always tosses scraps off his plate to our dog. I had to cut back and be the bad guy since he gave her food a bit too often. I have a feeling it will be the same way when our kitty comes.

Meecho doesn't really eat off my plate except if it's a ham sandwich. But she does have to smell everything on it first to see if she wants it or not. Sad thing is I don't even consider it my dinner unless she has offically declined it

LOL. Looks like I'm the other "no" in the poll so far, for the same reason as Brooke!
8 eager eyeballs, 1 hungry human
(two kitties are also on special diets)

I also voted "no". I don't allow any of my cats to eat off my plate; they're spoiled rotten enough as it is!

We try to make them wait until we are done with our meals, but that doesn't always work so well. My husband always comments that we must be making his mother "spin in her grave" by doing this! Guess she wouldn't approve....:Surprise:

I don't want him eating off my plate for the simple reason of, if we have people over he will eat off thier plate, and they might not like it. Besides he is such a gassy kitty, I don't want to give him human food, and making him even more gassy. He also has a habit of walk by food napping. IE running by my plate cause he knows he's not supposed to, and wether he even wants to eat it or not, will grab it and run off with it. Trying to break him of this lol and trying not to give in.

They don't eat off our plates only because they usually don't really want what we are eating. they do come and sniff our plates to see what's for dinner. Sometimes they do have an interest in crazy things like salad but i don't let them eat that. The one thing that we do let them do is come and sit and walk on the table as we eat.... i know it's terrible but my fiance and i don't care, we love them and well, they run the house.

I really don't get any choice in the matter! Ra will eat from my plate or, steal it from the fork as its on the way to my mouth which is pretty funny the first time it happens but bloody annoying if its something he likes... he's an odd bugger and eats/drinks the weirdest of things including curry, marshmallow fluff and Nos energy drink :Surprise:

:LOL:Well at least I know we are normal now. Yes all 5 of mine find their way to a plate at dinner time. Wither its the kids sneaking them food. Me giving them food, or them attacking my husband for food....What can I say they are the boss:Laugh:

I don't let Chadwick eat off of my plate. I try not to give him human food because I don't want him to get the poops. However, if I'm eating chicken or steak, I've been known to sneak him some! He doesn't even try to eat off my plate, though. He's pretty good about keeping his distance when I eat, but when I have company over, he will get right up in their food. Maybe he thinks that since he lives there, he can get all up in everyone's business except for mommy because she pays the bills!

OK...I know this will gross most out but Willow and I used to share a yogurt whip every night for dessert...yes the same spoon LOL. Probably won't let the new ones if I can stay strong lol.:Woo:

You get to use a spoon? Ra will ram his head into any yogurt pot I open and I have to wait for him to remove it to get my turn

OMG I've had Sophie for 2 days now and on 3 occasions I've scooped the litter box expecting cat poop but it was her gas! (well, when she has gone its equally as bad!) My bf says I cannot complain of him smelling anymore. I hope it gets better after she finishes her can of Science Diet a/d because that stuff STINKS- BAD. The vet gave me one can for her to get settled and incase she was dehydrated after our travels.

I can't believe you cats can eat human food. We let Abby have some once and she got a horrible case of the "poops". Maybe beef jerky wasn't a good idea. We had just gotten home from a 18 hour drive and were woken up at 3 am by a strange smell. Abby had left us several smelly presents in bed with us. I got up and was still trying to figure out what was going on. She tooted, which scared her and she took off running and pardon the graphic description, squirted a lovely trail all through our bed. Everytime time the tooted, the same thing happened. All over the carpet, furniture, etc. I finally spent the next few hours until the vet opening just carrying her wrapped in a towel. Since then we have had 3 more episode of what my son refers to as the squirts. The ONLY human food that doesn't bother her is chicken.:Woo:

First post on these forums! Haji loves to eat certain foods off my plate. Most of the time he sits by me waiting patiently for a little morsel, but sometimes he so darn impatient and he sneaks it right in front of my eyes!
