Hi guys,

In all the beautiful pics I see of other people’s Sphynx babies I’ve never see them have skin like my Lucius.

I’m wondering if anyone has every seen this before and if so, have you figured out what it is?

It’s basically dry, patchy bumps that don’t seem to itch at all. Almost looks when my hooman daughter has eczema flair ups...those of course are itchy tho. I bathe him weekly with an oil based, sphynx specific shampoo & conditioner so I don’t think it’s from overwashing? Idk...

Any leads are much appreciated!
Sasha

@Soysash welco,e to the lair family ! Look forward to pics amd tales!

Some can be sensitive to shampoos /conditioner amd or potentially overbathing .
You want to let th skin do its natural thing too -
Many of us spot clean in between monthly full spa Baths with ears and nails biweekly .
Years ago a member suggested Hylyt shampoo soap free hypoallergenic to me and I have used it ever since .
My vets office sells it amd it’s avail online too

Did you use a different shampoo before ? Without skin issues?
Wear clothes ? Some get rashes like prickle Heat amd or sensitivities to laundry soap or fabric softener /dryer sheets

Love your avatar pic :) Is that Lucius :)

My Ellie gets that dry skin on her back. I use olive oil on it when it gets too bad. A lot of people use coconut oil, but I don’t think it absorbs as well. Just my opinion.

Thanks, it is Lucius! :)

I do use dye/fragrance free, sensitive laundry detergent for his clothes & my bedding that he sleeps on.

I guess I was just concerned that it was possibly some type of fungus or something weird like that...but now that you mention it, I’ll probably stretch out his actual baths & spot clean now that he’s used to the water. Let’s see if that helps!

Welcome to sphynxlair. Did you try rubbing coconut oil or olive oil on the skin? Try one part first to see if the oil doesn't make it worse. If the oil doesn't help best is to go for a vet check
