Hi everyone, I recently took home my 12 week old kitten Nova a few weeks ago. She has since developed a slight upper respiratory infection where she sneezes a few times a day and almost sounds like she’s gasping for air when she’s coming out of her naps. It’s scary but I’m trying to trust the process/vet recs. and give her the antibiotics and immunity supplement she was prescribed. While adjusting to her antibiotics she’s gotten diarrhea several times (switched scripts since) and unfortunately Nova has not quite figured out how to cover her poop without stepping in it and getting it all over herself lol. There is one day where she got poop all over herself twice and without thinking, I gave her two baths in one day. Since then she her skin feels significantly dryer than her brother (purchased together) I’ve been putting a light barrier of coconut oil on her the last few days and it doesn’t seem to me improving — any tips?? I don’t want to irritate her skin more and am holding off on her next bath in hopes she can produce her own moisture but nonetheless I am neurotic and just want my sick girl to feel her best. Any help is greatly appreciated

@Novayoshimama .hugs. Not uncommon for newly homed to get a URI. one of mine did. Got meds and all cleared up. Some Antibiotics work better than others. Which antibiotic prescribed? As for coconut oil, I stopped using it as it can clog pores. I don't use any type oil or lotion
what shampoo? How often bathing? Over bathing can cause its own skin issues. We gotcha. Each kitty is different
My littermates both had slightly different skin

I personally would wait to do any more bathing until the skin balances out again. Baby wipes are good for quick cleanups if needed. Is your litter box one with a lid? What a cutie! Hoping the URI clears up quickly. Your vet might recommend psyllium husk or FortiFlora to help gut health and firm up the poop while on the antibiotics.
