Took my darling Dulcinea into the vet tonight. She spends the night, gets spayed in the morning, spends tomorrow night and all day Wednesday--I can pick her up Wednesday night. I'm worried...and will be until she gets back home. I know she's in good hands, but she's my baby and I won't be ok until she's finished with the surgery and back home again.
I took Othie Marie in for her annual shots today too--she got really mad at me over the shots and she tried to bite me while Dr. B. was giving her the injections. He always gives a shot of cortisone too so they don't get sick...well it made her madder than H*LL! She went back into her soft sided carrier, and slapped me through the netting about 20 times in a row. I unzipped it to pet her and she slapped me about 10 more times and bit me pretty hard just for good measure. I have never seen her like that. Well, after she calmed down while Dr. B. and I were talking, I unzipped again, and all was forgotten. She started purring again and she had obviously forgiven me. I couldn't believe it--she slapped me HARD. I didn't know they could slap with that much power. It hurt. LOL, the little vixen!

I miss Dulcinea already...hope she's ok sitting there in that cage at the vet's.
We love you Dulcinea!

I'll be thinking of you & Dulcinea. I'm positive everything will be fine but know how hard it is not to be with our babies. Hugs!!

Awww poor girl! Sorry she got so upset with you and Dr. B! I'm a big baby anytime I take my kids or cats to the Doctor or vet. I probably get more upset than they do. LOL I hope the time flies by for you and Dulcinea recovers quickly. I've been gone from the house for two days , 8 hrs each time and Snuffie and I are inseperable.. its gonna suck majorly once I get a job and go back to work! Positive thoughts and vibes your way!!

I pay a day's boarding fee so I can bring her the night before, because I can't bring her in the morning unless I take time off work. Also easier to manage the no food or water issue before surgery--he does all that. And since she is getting spayed, he keeps them overnight routinely. I pick her up Wed. night because, again, that way I don't have to take the day off and by the time I get her home, she will be feeling much better, which is a plus when you have several cats--keeping her quiet and unbothered by the others would require locking her up someplace--this way, the hardest part is done at the vet's. He said she will be doing fine with no restrictions by the time she comes home.

Does your vet allow you to call and check in on her? Mine does, I love it. They won't allow you to come see them because it causes your kitty to be confused on why you aren't there to pick them up but atleast I can call all day and check in!!

I can call between 1:00 and 3:00 according to the receptionist, but Dr. B. told me I could call at around 11:00 cuz she will be done by then. They also took my school number--but if they call me I'll faint--cuz it wouldn't be a good thing...I'm sure of it. So, no calls to my work number Dr. B. and take good care of my baby Dulce.

We will all be worried right along with you! I am sure she will be fine though. It sounds like you have a really great vet. Is this a routine spay? or is Dulcinea having health issues that require it? Either way, I'm positive she will do great and SO happy to see you come take her home!

My vet doesn't use that method, unfortunately, but he loves my babies, so I know he will take good care of her.

I love my vet! I called him and he told me Dulce is doing fine. He did her first this morning, he said he didn't want her to worry and get stressed out waiting in the cage. He did her at 9:00 and she was alert and doing well by 10:00. So I can take a huge breath and a sigh of relief. My little Dulcinea will be home soon. Thanks for all the support, you guys!
