So this has happened once to Nala before, and it just happened again like two seconds ago! I gave her a bath this morning, cleaned her ears, nails, you know the works! Well now her whole ear is filled with brown ear wax. The first time this happened was a while ago and I saw it the next morning. Wax was all over the inside of her ear almost all the way to the tip. It took a few attempts and baths to get it all the way clean again, but since then things have seemed fine with both ears.

Could this be just ear wax loosening up and coming out all at once?
An infection?
Has anyone had this happen?

It doesn't really smell bad. She has been shaking her head a little and doesn't seem to want me to clean it more, but then again she just got a bath so she is probably overly annoyed with me for the day! Hmmmmmmmm.

Some kitties just seem to have junky ears. I know Little Ren had horrible ears, they got dirty a lot faster than Pedda with a lot more wax too. He was prone to getting yeast infections in them even though I kept them as clean as I could. My vet gave me some special stuff that I used in his ears to keep the infections away. I'm sure your vet could give you some help with your case.

How are you cleaning her ears? And the wax build up is seen a few hours after bath?

I put a couple drops of an ear cleaning solution in her ear, massage it for a second, then use a q-tip to get the junk out. On most days there us no build up like this, normally it takes a few days and then I start seeing a little wax in her ears again. This time though it was a couple hours after her bath and wax started coming out more than normal. She would shake her head and there would be a little more. I'm going to clean in again today to get that stuff off of her ear, I am hoping some of the wax just got loose and came out... What do you think?

I wouldn't use q-tips. Use a cotton ball, it can get to where it needs too. If you do use qtips then dont stick it anywhere where you cant see the end of it. I use one sometimes to get excess ear solution out of the "valleys" in the ear and the little skin flap on the sides of the ears but thats it.

Sounds like what might have happened is all the solution didnt come out when you cleaned and when she shakes her head it knocks that extra wax out.

Wow, that sounds crazy, I must be lucky because Hibou's ears rarely need cleaning. From the stories and the pictures of SPhynx cats I was concernec at first about all that ear cleaning, but I can go a month and there really isn't anything more that a couple of little pin head sized bits, and the Q-tips (yes I use them) come out with a tiny amount of wax on them, and I do go deep(but not too deep) looking for it!
