I leave food down 24/7 for Maggie.... Am I supose to?

There's no right or wrong answer here, it's really a matter of preference.
When I just had one cat, I left food down all day for him, too. Many people say that because of the sphynx's higher metabolism, they should to be able to munch all day long.
However, when I got more cats, I started feeding them twice a day instead of free feeding. I wanted to be able to track how much food each cat was eating and be able to tell if any of them were not eating, because that's an early indicator of sickness. I wouldn't be able to monitor each cat's eating habits individually if I left food out all day, because I'm not always home to make sure Walter and Nelson (the pigs) don't go and steal food from Helen and Mandy!
As long as you're measuring her daily portions and Maggie is maintaining her proper weight, you're fine to leave her food out all day if you want to.

Like Admin said we leave dry food out all day, then I give 1 can wet food in the am and one in the pm!
It is funny how they kow as soon as I wake up they are getting there wet food, and when I come home from work. I would love to have my coffee first but if I did that they would trip me and I would never make it to the coffee pot.
As long as Maggies weight is good not too fat and not too skinny I would say whatever you are doing is fine!

Yes - I too leave dry food out all day for Sammie & Lilly. I didn't think I would be able to after I got Lilly, 'cuz she acted like such a little pig, but after being here for a few days, she wasn't so crazy to attack her food. She came from a rescue, so who knows what her conditions were before the rescue found her. They started to tell me about her "horible homelife" but I stopped them - I didn't want to hear anymore. All I know is that she is happy and healthy now. That's all that matters.

I feed Harry half a can of wet food 2-3 times a day and have dry food all the time. He loves his wet food though because 5:30am every morning he pounces on me to let me know he's ready to eat. I put it down first thing so I can use the bathroom and brush my teeth in peace!

I give my boys wet in the am and the pm and dry food free fed all day. I do agree with Brook about not knowing who's eating what but i'm home enough to know if someone is lacking an appetite or if someone is being a piggy. But i leave plenty of dry food out so there is no worry that one won't get enough. Also in a multiple cat house hold the cats are getting plenty of exercise by chasing each other around like lunatics

I leave food out all day as well and if it gets empty she is good about telling me, even if it's 2 in the morning :Laugh:

Everytime I think she's actually stayed in bed all night I wake up to angry yells of how she kept everyone up. oh well at least I'm sleeping

I keep picturing Meecho walking around meowing "off with their heads" "what no food or snacks at my every beck and call?!?!?! Off with her head" I think the funniest thing is when she sticks her butt in my face she turns her head to look at me and I swear she has a look of total superiority like she thinking...that's right I have given you the honor to smelling my butt, no no take your time and get a good whiff :Laugh:
