Entropion

Hi! My sphynx kitten was diagnosed with mild Entropion in June (has had it since I picked her up). I took her to the vet and he said that it’s not a big deal and to just keep washing it daily like I have been with kitty eye drops, noting it’s common in pure Breds. So he wasn’t concerned at all. Sometimes it’s nice and open but it constantly has drainage and half the day it’s squinty, sometimes getting puffy and red when really irritated(less common). I was wondering if anyone had a similar issue with their cat? I’m wondering if I should push to get a surgery… I don’t want this to cause future vision issues for my cat but am not sure what I should do. I saw a post on Facebook where’s a ladies sphynx had a severe case of this condition and developed corneal ulcers which got me all worked up lol. Any suggestions? Pictures added with squint and no squint!

Bless you and your cat is gorgeous. Sorry I had never heard of entropian before and looked it up. I am sorry you have to go through this extra anxiety. I sure hope someone can come forward and give you some pros and cons about the surgery.

You can also type in entropian in the search bubble and find more. Please keep us updated…ulcers are something that can happen for sure. You might consider seeing ophthalmologist for a second opinion.

@whatsupRT02 , sorry no specific entropion experience but wanted to share when my Yoda had eye issue,(corneal sequestrum) I took to him to vet ophthalmologist for a second opinion. the cost for the ophthalmologist visit was cheaper ($200 ) than multiple vet regular visits.

sharing side note, his corneal sequestrum cleared up on its own with meds. one thing specialist recommend was a lubricant along with an rx of idoxuridine. which worked wonder. got online cheaper than at specialist office, no rx.. you can ask your vet if it would be beneficial for maintenance.

terramycin ointment worked well too with my nakids over the years. you can ask your vet about the products.
