She almost lasted a week not on antibiotics, the Protexin did not affect her booger situation at all. I just feel better to know it would have improved her digestive system a bit. She is back on the antibiotic moxycilin. I have enough for about 3 months is my guess. So I think I will alternate between Protexin and the antibiotic. The antibiotic is necessary because it controls the bacteria or booger production so she doesn't choke, but it doesn't stop it completely. I don't have the financials to persue a different course at this stage. She is happy and playful and eats well, so I am just grateful that it doesn't impact on her life quality much.

My 4+ year old Cornish Rex has suffered from dreadful nose congestion since he was given to me a few years ago. Most recently he was on Clavamox and Prednisone 2x/day. This combination seemed to work quite well. After 10 days of the Clavamox, I am now giving him just the Prednisone 1x/day. For two days, he didn't get the Pred, and he started the snots again...so back on 1x/day Pred, and he seems to be doing well.

Not sure if this would work with your kitty, but thought I'd throw it out there. Good luck--I know how terribly frustrating this is.

Oh...forgot to mention that I needed to switch food to Hills Prescription d/d Formula (Venison and Green Pea). Vet says that after several months of feeding this exclusively, he's hoping that we can stop the Prednisone completely. Fingers crossed...

Spoke to my vet today because Sissy started with nasal congestion again here. She was miserable last night and I felt so bad for her. So I loosened her stuffy nose with saline solution drops (that helps her blow it out or sneeze it out). Then I gave her the Tobramycin drops. She was in better shape this a.m. thankfully and she ate her breakfast. Last night she didn't want to eat or anything.

My vet does not want to put her on any antibiotics now. He wants me to wait a week and see if it's under control. He feels that she's been on all sorts of antibiotics since she was very young and it's not good especially if God for bid she really needs an antibiotic one day and then it won't help her!
My vet doesn't even want me to waste my time and money right now going to a specialist (ENT) because he feels that there isn't anything different that an ENT would do for her at this time. He feels that she will out-grow this as her immune system isn't ready to kick this for good yet.

I hope your baby out-grows this too. Good luck.
@Retro Kitty, what's going on with the little kitten that sneezes snot rockets?

Poor Sissy! No news here, still a mystery as far as I know.

Thank you, Andrea. She has learned how to blow them out, but they can be very thick. That's why I use the saline which helps loosen it right up for her.

No news meaning, "no news is good news" or do you mean, no answers yet to the kitten's sneezing problem?

I think no news is good news. I talked to her a couple weeks ago to help facilitate an adoption for a sphynx a dog rescue friend grabbed off Craigslist but she didn't mention anything about snotty boy.

If his sneezing stopped, I'd really like to know how and I'm sure @nfaerie would love to know as well. Thanks.

Yes saline nose spray is a saviour, Cleopatra gets so congested over night and half of it dries up. They spray helps loosen it and triggers sneezing so it comes out.
I hope sissy doesn't have the terrible habit that my kitt does of eating her boogers??? I have to chase her to get her thick snot before she licks it and puts it back inside!!

Sissy will eat her snot IF it's hanging out of her nose by licking it. Once it comes out, she will not go to eat it. Cleopatra eats them once they fly out of her nose?

Yep, she sneezes then looks around for boogers, then eats them!!! She eats the kitty litter she spreads around the place too. Part of me thinks she has Pica :/

LOL I had to laugh about Cleopatra looking around for her snot to eat it, but it's not funny at all. My mind works in pictures when I read or hear a story, so just picturing her looking for them sounded funny. I don't even like when I see Sissy lick her nose when it hangs out of her nose, but I can't get to her quick enough to wipe it away most times.
How much litter does your girl eat? It can, not always, but it can be a sign of a different health problem. Here is a link:

I don't mean to scare you, I really don't, but you should know what it can mean and look at her gums (the color) and other signs.

Lol dont worry i think its funny and disturbing that she treats her boogers at a yummy treat. Thank you, yes I am already aware of this. I thought she was really crazy so I researched it. Her gums are a very healthy pink no anemia, when I supplemented her diet with vitamins it didn't stop so no deficiency....
She also chew other things like those with pica do. She loves eating shoelaces, especially the hard ends. Any long thin material... She got 20cm of pj pants string down her throat once... She had such a happy expression...
