My beautiful little girl Luna came home with me mid December. She is so beautiful, loving and a handful. All the research in the world couldn't have prepared me for the insanity or the absolute love and joy she brings. Currently trying to find out which foods don't bring her out in rashes!

Welcome @prettytwitches. Luna is absolutely stunning. Have you considered a raw food diet? That way, you can completely control what she’s eating and if it’s causing irritation.
The breeder had her on a Raw food diet. Unfortunately I'm disabled and have to be very careful with what I come in contact with. So I switched her to Applaws and Orijen but the poor wee poppet keeps getting spots all over. Switched to Royal Canin... big mistake. It made her spots worse. So I'm going to try introduce Purizon and see how she goes with that.

@prettytwitches Welcoming you and gorgeous Luna to the lair family

Surely others in your area will chime in with food recommendations

Here is a link Sphynx Skin Conditions

Look forward to updates pics and tales!
Thank you! This is very helpful. Hopefully we can workout what's going on. If not we might need to get testing done to see what the route cause of the allergy is.

@prettytwitches welcome to sphynxlair! Luna is a beautiful cutie.
Sorry to hear she’s dealing with skin issues. About the bathing: the more you bath, the more oily she gets, the dirtier she gets. Sometimes getting dirty a few hours after bathing means the shampoo wasn’t rinsed good enough. With skin issues I would try to bath her as less as possible.
And don’t feel a bad sphynx mom. My pink boys always look dirty. They’re just dirty piggies having a good life. Same for Luna!

What a beautiful little girl!
I agree with @JSal too many baths make it worse unfortunate!
At one point a few years back I bit the bullet and just let them get good and dirty a solid month with nothing a few baby wipes here and there .. I find that they don't get as dirty between baths now and I still tend to get about 3 weeks before a full spaw day.

@Toa and Ross @MelissaAlice @JSal Thank you so much. It's honestly so helpful to hear from other Sphynx parents. I'm an anxious bunny so it's good to know this is all normal. I'm just going to try to leave her for a little while and spot wash her when needed. It's difficult due to my disabilities for me to deep clean my house and I was worried that's why she was getting so dirty. Thank you for putting my mind at ease!

@JSal Thank you so much! These are super helpful. Bathing her every other week is going to be difficult but I want to do what is right for her. Even if she looks like she has been digging in dirt. I'm going to figure out what's causing the bumps through a process of elimination thanks to your helpful hints and the ones from the thread you shared. I will definitely keep you posted on her progress.

if The skin issues continue something to consider is an allergy test, as my kitty was allergic not just to her food but to her litter, shampoo and most proteins so she has to get prescription food! Xx

Goodness no .. my sister is borderline OCD and deep cleans with steamer and tiny little brushes and even her girls get dirty like the rest of ours! (she'd kill me if she knew I said any of that)

@Staceyxxx Aawww Wow! I'm also from good ole Glasgow! I'm so thankful I found this site. Everyone is lovely and helpful. Allergy testing is something I'm looking into. It's expensive and I'm not sure if my insurance will cover it. Poor wee thing, I didnt even consider that it could be more than one thing lol.

Woopeee a fellow Glaswegian welcome to the lair, aww I don’t do social media but I love this site as people are so nice and supportive and well it’s all about our kitty’s! Yeah it’s expensive, Binky has underlying issues so insurance didn’t cover it! Binky is going to a skin specialist in ibrox just waiting for them to contact me as we have exhausted everything else!
