Hello dear Lair family.

Of course my little baby already has seen a vet a few times with my breeder for her chip and first shot.
But this for me is going the first time tomorrow that we're going to the vet as she needs to get her second shot and just a random check up.
Although I found a vet nearby, to know I can't drive a car nor own a bike so I do everything by public transport and foot, this vet did admit he doesn't see naked babies much or has a lot of knowledge of them per se.
Well he was honest. He also wasn't sure where to find one that was.

So just in case if I cannot find an other vet close enough to get by public transport or foot, I would like to call in the help of the lair family here.
Maybe I can help this vet so he can help me. and along the way we maybe can even help a few others who can only find a vet that isn't that experienced with the breed. Word wide. Like how cool would that be :joyful:

I only, since I'm totally new to this have no idea yet how to start it.
Think a few of the things I better ask tomorrow is a blood check on standard things, though she looks healthy and acts healthy, you never can be sure enough I guess?
Maybe listen to the heart too? Not that they're specialized in hcm, but if they would pick up something sounding off I do know a specialist in hcm a few towns from here.

Hmm so she'll also get her second shot. (it's kinda a thing here) I only actually should look for what, cause I have no idea :ROFLMAO: I suspect cat and sneeze disease. But I do know I have to take her passport along for her vaccination sticker.

Maybe I could gather some information of the ''downside'' of this breed like how they are sensitive for some things or easily can pick up stuff that fluffy's affect less (or affect less cause they talk less about it then us naked ones?) and give him the documentation or information..?

Hmm. Suggestions, idea's, everything welcome (y) After all we all want to get this breed better and better.
So I guess all effort always help, even one vet maybe can make the difference for a person or who knows if he gets more nudes in the future maybe even for more people. Right? Right!
I just need to write down and docu for them that little piece of information where they differ with fluff I guess.
I only still do not know how to start it on my own being so new to all of this

Thank you in advance! :kiss::kiss::kiss:

@Yumi I live in a small town - not a bunch of sphnyx clients at my vet but she is great at contacting colleagues while we are there .

I wrote does a list of questions because by the time I get dome at the vet and rife home then I remember what I wanted to ask lol

You can bring a frssh poo sample if you want it checked for parasites
During each vet visit I ask the vet to plesse me listen for any heart murmurs - my vet let me listen to my Boys grade 3 murmur with a stethoscope .
Some kittens can have innocent stress murmurs thst often go away not heard on subsequent visits .

There are certain vaccines that are not recommended for Sphynx amd can void a contract (read fine print )
FIP amd the Feline Leukemia vaccine are the two mentioned that may be contraindicated not recommended .

I'm busy with the list, while making soup lol.
Do have to pause in a bit to roll the meat for soup balls.

And well I know this is the second vaccination that normally our breeder would have gotten but then due circumstances she came home sooner then expected. So after letting her de-stress for a bit we're getting that vaccination first ;)(y)

So far I know that vet may not be able to pull contacts but I can always ask of course.
But just in case informative towards him I've wrote down that sphynx are a strong breed in general and yet they're more sensitive towards genetic illness. Sensitive for hcm, something that's called pkd here and have a bigger shot on dental issues.
Atm I can't think of anything more. So maybe later on.

And agree, kittens can have stress murmurs, I better write that down too.
The poo sample was a thing recently with the breeder and that's all cleared on all good and well so am going to skip that one for now.
I do hope she behaves a little tomorrow. We don't get many visitors.
So lets hope her nature kicks in and she wont be grumpy towards the vet :ROFLMAO: cause we all know how my first night and day went lololol.

Edit; trying to write with one nude is so hard. Pls pls stop attacking my pen for 1 minute.
I can't keep starting over cause a word went flagabberashishfdkjb

One thing vets who are not familiar with the breed are often wrong about us dirty ears. They see the dark gunk/ wax and assume mites.

When we got our first Sphynx, our vet back then had no other Sphynx patients. She loved the challenge and read up on the breed and she loved learning. Hopefully your vet will do the same.

Again tell your team Ketamine should not be used for an anesthesia as it can be fatal if a cat has an underlying heart condition.

@Catzzzmeow oh that's good to know. Thank you so much for sharing!
I would totally fall for the mites if I didn't know so now I can prepare to tell him noooo no no. 99% it's not mite o_o *stare* lol

I hope it too and otherwise, I'll find one what is interested or does know enough about them.
It's mainly for the shot now. Unless of course he turns out to be a good vet. ;) (one never know beforehand eh)

And oooh that's not good. Definitely going to write that down. Yikkes!

Oh she did so well and I am so proud of her.:love:
Also a tiny bit grumpy on her. Some probably already have read it somewhere, but when I like wash her or clean her ears or baby wipe her, she's the biggest drama queen there is and mews like I'm killing her... Kinda awkward.
But at the vet, you saw her muscle flex once when the shot went in but otherwise she didn't give one ---- about it. Not even one single mew.
But so proud on my baby girl being so brave the whole half hour with the vet being all cuddly and cute and keeping a eye on everything (and not trashing his office like she trashes our place during play time energy hiccups. Pfeeeeew!) :ROFLMAO:

She's healthy as can be and well had her shot. The only concern was still the ears though @Catzzzmeow, despite explaining it's normal they have more wax/gunk. He didn't assume mites, but he was scared it would clump or stay stuck causing a plug and get her an infection or deafness so he did told me to keep my eye out for that. (so no product or oil just yet.)

furthermore I do have to say he was a very honest and nice vet to go too. And very open, despite lacking his pc at the moment since it was broken (the poor fella, he really felt bad about it thus I felt bad for him) to the breed and willing to learn to know them better. So that is nice. Guess for now we kinda want to keep him since that spark was there. Not only between vet and owner but also Safira seemed to well just at ease there. Of course she hasn't been to so many places so I don't know if she'd be like that everywhere but.. :cat:

Guess time will tell. Who knows on the next visit she does trashes his office lolol!
In 6 months she'll get a booster, so like a shot but not like a shot.

(y)
Maybe my then I can bring him a bit more information as I did tell some things already how they are strong but yet sensitive for some hereditary illnesses. About their gunk *winks at catz* and their eye dirt. About their skin and cleaning.
Surprisingly he knew more then he let me believe lol but he did appreciated the explanation, or at least of the basic stuff like the care and stuff. So yay!

@Catzzzmeow no, none at all. I only clean out her euh I have to google that word.
earcups? Like only where I can see it and never go deep so I don't damage her ear canal.
Like well how my breeder thought me. She dislikes solution I assume as she said it's not needed.
I do know some do like cleaner, others do not so euh hmm. But this is ear canal we're talking about not cups then.
(The solution they would use here is very soft but you have to fill her canal fully and massage it and gunk should rise up so you can get it out of the cup - and alternative was oil, almond oil I believe but that sounds so super greasy )
Would you recommend ear cleaner? Wait, think we have a topic about it too, might give it a visit to see different opinions.

Edit: I know te cleaner here is called Douxo care, auricular lotion.
0% alcohol or paraben (google translates it as paraben too hmm)
(wrote it down just in case I would need to get it)
and should be a fairly natural one to clean with. Though some are pro, others are contra.
I have no own opinion yet as newbie :inpain::sorry::sorry:

I'm kinda glad to read that duoxo is a known brand. So I assume it is not a bad brand then?
Still hmm ear cleaner. Time will tell to be honest. If she can do well as now then it's well too.

and great brainstorm idea for next time @Yoda mom thanks!!

Also today when I pick her up since a few minutes ago she mews. Mews badly and hard. Then attempts to attack/bite... :/
I discovered she has a sore spot where she had her shot. Although she didn't started to mew on touching then literally a minute or 20 ago.
I have to admit I'm a tiny mini bit worried as I'm not sure if it's due the shot or something else. Like did she bump herself by accident or so so.
Not to mention earlier today there was a little bit of blood with her big litter, but nothing with the second big one, that had me a jump scare too. (but since it was like one drop and stopped instantly it's probably really nothing, though keeping an eye out still!!!)
Maybe I worry to fast, but being a new mom is sometimes hard when you really love that little precious bundle of joy.

As for a small update: I just touched that side of the painful spot again, she doesn't mew anymore or acts weird when I softly push around there.
So still no idea what it is or was.
She still eats/plays/drinks well so I guess everything is back alright and she probably hurt herself somehow while playing so wild as she plays sometimes. *sigh* Actually sometimes she plays so wild it's a miracle she didn't break anything yet or had any serious accident yet.
(God lets hope that never happens!)

Ok maybe I should worry and go back to the vet on her right side where she was sore earlier, front paw, at her armpit she has like two lumps or bobbles or something..
I can't feel it on the other side so I'm not sure if they're supposed to be there or can be bad.

Edit: unlike the topics I find, these are not visable, but deep down inside her armpit front leg.
Almost like they're latched on her ribs, they move a little but not much and they're fairly hard.
Not sure if that had something to do with the pain around that area earlier or not.
One is a tiny bit bigger then the other one and they stick pretty much right to each other.
Gently pushed and pinched them, she doesn't seem to like it but also doesn't react overly aggressive or so. More human stop annoying me reaction.

Edit two: can see them if you pul her skin there right and move her arm out of the way a bit.
Her bat wing is an the way. Kinda tried and failed to take a picture of it as my little worm doesn't wanne sit still.

So far I've found a topic about lump(s) that can be caused by vaccination.
Hopefully it's just that but to be safe I'm still planning to call the vet for info. Rather safe then sorry right?
(think it's about 3 or more fingers away from where she got her shot but.. yeah Idk. :S)

well wont anymore but did it twice, feel softly so I can explain the size and how hard/soft they are etc when I call.
Think for now we'll go bury our heads in the pillow and get some rest. Can't be Monday fast enough o_o
Thank you for the reply :3

Called the vet regarding the two lumps under her armpit.
He told me it can be indeed a result of the vaccination even despite being a few fingers away from where he put the shot.
So I was told to keep an eye on it for at least a month. That it doesn't grow or rather that it slowly starts to fade away.
If it doesn't I had to call back and they would test the thingy.
So I assume it's waiting game now and indeed just hope it's from the shot :)
