I thought it would be fun to have a thread here for those of us who keep aquatic creatures. This is my 29. A little sparse at the moment but there you have it.

This is my figure 8 puffer, “Ocho,” my favorite little fish man, in my brackish setup.

Hello there love !
are pufferfish comparable with tropical tanks ? I thought they were just marine fish ? They are actually my favourite fish EVER !

@Yoda mom Yes still have Rocket & Flex! We use Seachem Prime over here too! I’m actually needing to do tank tuneup this weekend & replace their light & give it some more “life.”

We thought Rocket was a girl... but now I think they both maybe boys bc they’ve never mated!! Flex is obviously a boy... Rocket is... not as well endowed I guess. :ROFLMAO:

These are old photos.... unfortunately, neither aged very gracefully. They look much less like Pokémon now @ 3+ years old.
We have one of these awesome little dudes il get my granddaughter to take a picture xxx

Aww your goldfish are beautiful! They are what I want for my next tank

For puffers, there are marine species, freshwater species, and brackish water species. Figure 8’s are a brackish water species. Freshwater species that might interest you are Indian dwarf, Amazon, and Fahaka.

They are genetically modified! But you aren’t crazy, there used to be injected glass fish. They usually didn’t survive long, as one would likely expect.

Guys! Guys guys guys!

I finally got a figure 8 puffer again! I waited for my tank to be a year old so it’s nice and mature. This little guy is sooo cute!

@Sheldon13 very cool. How long does a fish like this usually live ?
They can live up to 15 years. This guy is really young, too. They get to be 3-4 inches and this little one is only about an inch long.

@Sheldon13 Congrats on the new puffer! And what a great find that you got a little guy too. Wishing you and the new guy many, many happy years together!

We have fish tanks at our house too. Currently we have one Scopus/ Yellow Tang hybrid in our 65 gallon tank all by her lonesome. Her name is Joon. We used to have a Benny as one of her tank mates but they've all gone to the tank in the sky. We are planning on redoing the gravel and repopulating our saltwater tank some time in the near-ish future. We also have a freshwater tank and are talking about making it a zoned tank for salamanders.

I may try to take some better pics of the tanks later, my most recent ones didn't turn out very good.

And here's the freshwater tank. Just plants right now.

We have been talking about what mobile life we will add to it in the future, as well as massive remodeling plans. Latest discussion was Newts but last night I mentioned it would be cool to have a frog or two and have the tank be water and land. Then we could populate the water part with fish for the frogs to eat. I love the idea of the small, self-contained eco-systems.

@carakitty, wow, beautiful tanks! love tangs! miss my saltwater tanks. only have fresh water now. thought a frog would be neat. I learned that pets stores often mislabel them! so check the claws to better ID them :) the dwarf ones are cute too! keep the pics coming!

ooh fishies!!!

I started with african cichlids and now have saltwater tanks..
I love the puffer fish. I have had a few now and each one has a lot of personality. I also never thought I’d get a dragon moray eel. They are beautifully colored with the oranges and white pattern.

We definitely have his mis-ID issues in the past! Thankfully our old favorite fish shop seems to be pretty good about their accuracy. We've also ordered our fish directly from the suppliers website in some cases.

We will be, eventually. She's the last fish swimming from when that tank was more active over a year ago. We have new gravel purchased and have discussed how the rocks will be remodeled. Life is suddenly a little crazier than we'd like, so fish keeping is on the back burner for now.
