Hey all-
This sir is my Squishy. I wanted to name him Alfred (Naked and Alfred/Afraid), or Streaker. The kids chose Squishy. I admit, it fits. He now has a fancy name, Alfred Squishy Streaker. The initials A.S.S. also fit.
Squishy came to me as a third home. A woman was being evicted, had sphynx cats that needed rehomed ASAP. A friend's sister, living with grandmother, was given the go ahead to take one, but once in home was more than grandma could handle. Thus, he came to me. He has been with me about one year. He was intact, no prior medical care at that time. He was neutered within the week. We had some inappropriate urination issues to figure out, despite him being the only cat. He always has had very loose stool, sometimes with blood and mucus, and the stench evicted a group of 15 year old boys from the area. After several different food trials, we finally have success with hydrolyzed food. Keeping Squishy just on the special diet is difficult, as he is the most food driven creature I have ever seen. If it might be edible, and is not nailed down, he will eat it. It is obvious in the litter box when he has managed to sneak something.
He also appears to be developing stomatitis (severe gum inflammation, autoimmune factor) and unless the hydrolyzed diet and chlorhexidine mouth flushes resolve this, he will likely end up with several dental extractions.
I plan to check a cardiac ProBNP level and ultrasound his heart soon to evaluate for HCM. As a veterinarian's pet, he is sure to have ALL THE PROBLEMS.
I came across this site when looking for potential rescue situations thinking he might enjoy a housemate to play with. I hope that the kitten I came across comes to be, as she needs thoracic surgery that I have done before successfully, and hopefully give her a happy ever after.
Enjoy photos of my little man. He hates clothes, btw.
