Hello everyone! I am new to this forum as well as to the sphynx ownership. I hope we can get some answers to the problems we've had lately. I apologize for posting in two different forum's topics.
We saw Ghandi at a Cat Show in Del Mar in January this year (he was almost 4 months old), and fell in love with him. I never bothered to ask the breeder why he had dark scaly spots all over him and assumed that he was either dirty, or it's his coloring. We picked him up after they got him nutered and vaccinated. According to the contract we signed with the breeder we had to take him to a vet to see if there are might be health issues with him, so that the breeder would pay for any treatment, if issues are found. The vet we went to see 2 days after we got Ghandi said that those spots are some kind of dermatological condition that needs to be treated and prescribed shampoo and conditioner. When I contacted the breeder she said that I must have used a wrong shampoo to wash him and that's how he got the problem! I never did wash him after getting him because she said not to for at least a week or two!
To cut the long story short, the vet misdiagnosed the condition. Ghandi's sports were ringworm. We found that out after my 10-year-old daughter got diagnosed by the dermatologist as having a ringworm. I took him back to another vet and now we have to wash him every 5 days with stinking sulphur. In addition, Ghandi transferred the ringworm to our other beloved cat, Zimka, and she now has bold patches on her ears and face. My roommate also got infected with the ringworm.
I am panicing and about to lose it! I am a neat freak and scrub my place all the time, but as I understand the ring worm is VERY hard to get rid of. It can be stagnant in your household for years.

So, I have a couple of questions for those of you who have dealt with: 1) dishonest and uncaring breeders; 2) with the ringworm issues.
So here are the questions:
1. Is there a way to treat the ringworm in a way that it won't hurt the animal (I've been told that the oral medication will damage cat's liver), and HOW LONG does it take for it to clear up? It took 6 weeks for my child. Are there vaccines for the ringworm (like Vacderm in Europe)?
2. Are there low cost clinics or kennels (or other quarantine facilities) in California that will take cats and treat them for the duration of the condition?
3. Anyone knows of a good pet lawyer in California that will be willing to help me sue the breeder for all the expenses and costs because of their negligence towards the animals? I now spent over $2,500 on vet visits for Ghandi (all the misdiagnosed visits, tests, prescriptions for ringworm as well as round worm that he was infected with also) and Zimka (she caught a respiratory infection from Ghandi that was quite severe, and now the ringworm); also treatments for the round worm for the entire family and now medications for the ringworm.
Any input will be greatly appreciated!!!
