Here are the 10 top reasons why cats end up in an animal shelter or are re-homed:

1. There are too many animals in the household (11%)
2. Owners are moving (8%)
3. Family members have allergies (8%)
4. Landlord doesn’t allow pets (6%)
5. Cost of care is too high (6%)
6. No homes are available for litter mates (6%)
7. Cats are soiling owners’ house (5%)
8. Owners have personal problems (4%)
9. Owners’ facilities are inadequate (2%)
10. Cat is incompatible with other pets (2%)

Here is a picture of a girl we rescued years ago. The family she was with didn’t think their landlord would see her. We were so lucky to have her for 9 sweet years. Her name was leeloo.

Let’s see pics of your rescued babies and share the reason they were re-homed.

Aww leeloo was stunning!

We’ve had Raven about 7 months now. She was our breeders first litter, and the owner said she was “sick of bathing her everyday and didn’t realize how dirty sphynx cats were” she didn’t enjoy finding brown sphynx stains on her furniture. She was going to bring her to a shelter that night, so now she is ours!

My nakid quad squad adoptees :

Toby ( changed name ) intact 11 mos old male I had neutered asap -
adopted off a hoobly Ad to honor my first girl Yoda.
*Owned said her other cats were picking on him ...
I think not bcz he turned out to be The fresh one in the beginning .
Now he is Toby Love .
( highly recommend reading the fraud tips thread on the lair )

Claire Bare adopted retiree from a wonderful reputable breeder . My queen Claire Bare wrinkly girl who is an absolute hoot cuddly girl - the boss of her underlings

Batman and Yoda - such a bonded amazing cuddly littermate pair.
I can see why they wanted them to stay together .
* Adopted from a military couple getting restationed overseas

@Toa and Ross I too find it sad but in so many instances I see that the cats are loved beyond measure in their new home. I learned so much about myself when we rescued. First I learned the look of love in a baby’s eye and I learned I could live through ringworm! It was a nightmare and I still can reflect to this day it was worth it all to give her a home that was loving...even with 2 other cats and myself getting ringworm lol.

I adopted Ellie in November 2014 from a shelter. She was surrendered because “her owners were getting a divorce and neither of them wanted her.” It makes me sick that some of these wonderful souls are just thrown away like so much trash. My gain though, because I can’t imagine life without Ellie.
