Thank you all, it is so hard to watch her and not be able to help her, and I still have human kids that need me, I am fighting back tears every minute. There was always some glimmer of hope, but when two different vets tell you there is nothing more they can do, just take her home, keep her warm and hydrated and pray....OMG, how do I deal with that???? This is a young beautiful kitten, all tests say she is healthy, WTH is wrong with this picture?? I am keeping busy with household chores, but everytime I see Gummi in her bathroom ICU, I feel like I have been punched in the gut

Gadzukz, stay strong! <3 I'm hoping with all my heart your baby pulls through. Douchie fell horrible sick a few months ago and we were sure we were going to lose him. It seems he has something almost identical to Gummi in symptoms and in medication prescribed. He also had the enlarged bowel, also clean blood work, also given Met and Cerenia injection and also the sub q fluids. He refused to eat, vommiting all the time and liquid stool. Very lethargic etc, the vets kept telling me, if I wasnt saying he was sick, through the tests they would think he was in perfect health. It was extremely fustrating. I feel your pain! Dont give up, keep up hope, all of us here are praying for her recovery. Douche pulled through on the 3rd day after more subq fluids. The difference the second bout of fluids made in him was miraculous. He is now cuddled on my lap with his bald siblings as I write this, happy and healthy, so dont give up hope!!!! Keep us all updated on little Gummi, she is very loved by many!

Oh Gummi!! You have to get better!!!! No one - no kitten is giving up!! Rest, feel better and get well soon!! We love you Gummi!!!!

Gadzukz, hang in there. You are a good Mommy. It is tough to see our babies sick and we all know how frustrating it is to spend money that we really don't have in vet bills, only to feel like we don't have any answers when we leave.

We are sending you and Gummi hugs, purrs and snuggles. Please keep us updated as much as possible!!

NB~ That plea from Peeve reduced me to tears, I just finished force feeding her, it's beyond sad to have to do that. I also gave her some oral glucose that he sent home.

Shauntay~ did they ever figure out what it was? It does souns a lot like Gummi's ordeal

No, three different vets never figured it out. He is also HCM positive so not as physically strong as he should be. All of his tests came back clear except for the xray that showed the enlarged lower bowel. Hundreds of dollars and no one could tell me why my baby was dying. The beginning of the third day, all he would do was sleep, so we took him in emergency and they gave subq fluids again. Thats when he made the turn around. It was just a short while after I brought Berlin home, and she was vet checked thoroughly to cross the border, and checked again by my vet and blood scanned (and typed) before bringing her home as was all my other cats. Im a little neurotic about health. My persian also had runny stool the next day Douche started and was dehydrated and had a fever, she also got the met (which was IMPOSSIBLE TO GIVE HER, damn cat) and an injection of cerenia, she bounced back instantly. The vet thought MAYBE Berlin carried over some type of harmless bug, from her Utah home, which doesnt effect her as she was used to it, but is foriegn to my cat home and caused my cats with lower immune systems to fall sick, if that makes sense. Although his blood levels didnt really support that theory as they were perfect

Is she doing any better today? Does she have a temperature? Douche's was low for a sphynx, but typical of a house cat so the vets didnt think he had a fever, from my experience with my boys, their average body temp is 99.5 to 101.5.

Thanks for sharing your story, Gummi came from Wa, to SC, so maybe some bug here she is not used to?? It's a long shot. She is no better today, and her temp is 101, so no fever.

Give your baby time, she will pull through. Her insides need to heal and repair themselves. The best thing you can do do her is keep her comfortable and warm. Prayers for Gummi...

Oh no, I'm so sorry....I just caught this thread. Big hugs to you, and bless you for being so compassionate towards Gummi. How awful to have to skip a house payment for vet bills. Please, Gummi, pull through!! We're all praying for you!!

Did they do an x-ray?? I had a puppy that was the same was they could not find any thing wrong with him. It was a blockage!! The little poop ate something he should not have. The after the surgery for that, his bowl collapsed in on it's self so they had to do surgery AGAIN!!! $1800 later he live to old age...

Just dropping by quickly to update you guys, I just gave Gummi her meds and had to force feed her again, she still does not want food, her hind end was covered in poo, so I wiped her down with a warm cloth, she is not vomiting any longer, but still pooping water.

They did not do an x ray, for whatever reason, neither vet felt that was needed. I told the vet yesterday, that after months of vet bills, I am truly at the bottom of my financial barrel. He told me that had done and am doing everything that she needs, he doesn't have any more tricks up his sleeve, so at least we were able to pay for what she needed. My husband, bless him, said don't worry about it, we can do without tv,( couldn't pay the directv bill) and they won't foreclose over one missed house payment, let's take care of our baby. My soon to be 9 yr old son gave up his birthday party this week (July 6) to help pay for Gummi's Dr bills. He said he can wait, but Gummi can't and all he wants is for her to feel better. So this has truly been a family effort. I didn't realize how much we ALL, not just me, love that little Gumball.

Her sisters miss her so much! She is still in my bathroom, with her heating pad and Dora blanket, and Truth and Dare stand outside the door crying. Sometimes I really want to let them in, perhaps she would feel better with their warm bodies cuddled next to her? But the vet asked me to please keep her seperated, so I am spending as much time as possible holding her and telling her how much she is loved and how pretty she still is (Gummi is very vain ya know). She is weak and thin, and when I pick her up, the poo runs from her, She looks like a shell of herself.

One way or another, this has got to end soon. I am breaking and I thank God for all of you here to help us be strong.

This is killing me too. I so wish I lived closer so I could lend a hand.

At least the vomitting has stopped. Keep doing what you're doing. Hopefully Gummi's illness has alreayd hit bottom and her recovery will be on the upswing soon.
