my fun loving full of personality TobyLove is celebrating his 11th Birthday today!! purrtay pics later!
some background on TobyLove.
He is one special boy. I adopted him in honor of my Yodagirl that got her angel wings suddenly from a clot at barely age 2 after managing her other clot episodes successfully in her young life with the aspirin therapy protocol by my vet. she was sadly a surprise bday gift to me that he got from a scammer who sold sick kitties all over the US I later learned. she had a very bad heart from the day I got her and soo sick. they were even afraid to spay her bcz her heart was so bad.
I swore I would adopt in her honor. I remember thinking the one would be a black nakid. for the heck of it , in my tears, I checked craigslist (which I was really nervous about because of all the scams I read about). There was a black sphynx 11 months old, listed in Florida . No name , no papers, not neutered, asking 500 (which I thought was a bit steep ). I negotiated saying I would use the money to neuter him asap.
She said needed to rehome him because her other sphynx kitties were picking on him. I asked her if he would kindly take him for a vet check and send me the paperwork. she took him for a free banfield vet visit wellness check and emailed me the copy.
My heart melted and I whispered to Yoda girl thank you, he must be the one. I drove a few hours to get him.
It appeared to me she may be a closest breeder, she had other sphynx. when I asked his name she said with pause "Prince". I asked where she got him and she said she could not remember the out of state cattery , or his parents info when I asked about HCM scans. I remember the moment I met him and his cute short stocky body with a bit of velvet skin and fuzz on tail and paws.
He stole my heart and I could see he had "personality" as he was not shy in the least. I scooped him up in my heart and arms. He had no idea of his name , I named him "Toby" for me symbolizing sounds like Meant "to be" .
I crated him on the way home and he was such a good boy. I still remember a member saying that cat looks like he has "attitude" lol. well, no truer words! I had Macie adoptee bengal at the time and he was far from "being picked on". I think the owner fibbed about that part.
well, it was a labor of Love. I used to tell him ah, Toby have love!!! ie : his name "TobyLove". he turned out to be very sweet and loving. I adopted other nakids that year. Yodagirl must have known my heart was shattered and sent me them to love like she knew in this world. I adopted Clairebare (retiree who was supposed to be yodagirl new buddy but she got her wings before meeting), I was blessed a few months later to adopt Batman and Yoda man from a member moving overseas with the military. It gave me chills that Yodagirl sent me Batman and brother"Yoda" with the same name. I felt in her own way she wanted it to be and kept his name Yoda.
TobyLove became very bonded and loving. He is like a different kitty over the decade journey together. proof of time, love, patience. He is the most cuddly kissy boy and loves his cat wheel, giving kisses on command, grooming my hair, rubbing his fangs on my head etc. he has filled my heart and life with soo much love and smiles of fun. Blessed to have been chosen to be his forever mum.
I am soo happy to celebrate TobyLove's 11th birthday . So special to me , everyday a gift.
especially when at 11 months old when I got him , vet checked and neutered him asap I was told by vet he had a heart murmur. all I could think of was oh no, not again. rechecks no more murmur detected .
Today is a very special 11th Birthday TobyLove. prayers for many more smiles and love. He is one special boy. more pics later! this is one of my favorite photos, his face when I tell him Toby give kisses. and of course his pic from the SL halloween contest years ago! his Gotcha day ride home photo
