Time Flies, celebrating Gunnar's 9th Birthday today! He was Tobylove's bestie like a warm blankie.
I remember like yesterday seeing his baby photo from the breeder I adopted from.
(Initially adopted Sketch, aka "Boo", from a long time reputable show dog person, breeder, bcz he was too shy for the show ring. no adoption fee. Deb told me love him and keep him safe).
The breeder had a litter with Boo and offered to adopt a puppy no adoption fee , pic of litter my choice.
I fell in love with Gunnar as soon as I saw his photo in the litter pics.
I and was able to visit him before gotcha adoption day a 3 hour ride each way. Deb sent me tons of pics in his puppy growing up till gotcha day at 16 weeks.
He was the Wild Child of the litter when she shared the puppy assessments with the other breeders show dog people who visited the litter on assessment day. I chose the name Gunnar because he was always running and gunning in the puppy videos she sent me.
. Squirmy wiggly fun loving and strong minded, and always smiling! I am always up for the challenge and said he is the one!
LOL he is the only aussie that does not fetch!
He has been by my side for nearly a decade through life's milestones and transitions with many many miles of walks , rides, and sitting by the pond together quietly watching the birds and turtles. My elderly neighbor comes out counting our walk laps saying go Gunnar!
he loves all people animals, cats, other dogs, ducks and more. He loves going to home depot and Lindleys Garden center to shop and greet the resident garden center dog. He loves sitting by the pergola at the beach watching the people and waves with me.
A woman came up to me at the garden center and said he would make a great therapy dog at their center. He knows instinctively when to 'go go go" like dog agility times and fast walks and when to be mellow like a cat sitting by my side taking in the world.
he loves kissing Claire Bare and Batman. He loves playing with Macie Mae and always offering his lion toy to her to play. He loves Raven and gives her head smooches all the time everytime we come in from our walks. He loves his dad Boo. I always makes me laugh when I come in from eating my dinner outside on the pool lanai and find both of them sitting on the couch together with Macie Mae watching TV. they smile at me and immediately get down. it's like a game. Other times I am outside or leave the are never are on the couch, wel (checked with camera) l, except when I go outside to eat dinner. My mom calls him the wild child, and said the laughs when she sees the blink camera commercial with the dog on the couch. My mom is not fond of aussies (or sphynx , she says cats shoud have fur and nakids are "disgusting" ). She told me she preferred the rotties. I told her I can bring Gunnar over and she can see how calm he really is inside the house lol.
in obedience classes his recalls always loved and made people smile. He would recall on a dime lightening fast, then in the last 10 feet leap in the air like superman dog and land perfectly in front of me. He is always smiling and it warms my heart and makes my heart smile when I need it most.
Most recently my heart healer sitting by the pond catching my tears when Tobylove gained his angel wings. He is a sensitive boy always in tune to my emotions.
last week we were outback by the pond walking and he suddenly pulled and looked toward the edge of the pond. He never does that. I looked and saw a feather at the edge of the pond. a sign to him and me from his bestie Tobylove.
Today I am blessed to celebrate his 9th Birthday together with some treats and whippedcream shared with his dad "Boo".
looking forward to be blessed with many more miles and smiles together with my "Gunnar Roo". The heartbeat at my side.
