Hello,

Hope all is well ❤️
Anyone in the Northeast area know of any HCM clinics available anytime soon? The clinic I usually attend was held in July and I missed it due to covid.

For those who don’t know, these clinics screen for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) by board certified veterinary cardiologist at a very affordable price. These test are very expensive and these clinics help a lot of people out.

FYI:
“It appears the Sphynx breed might have a higher than normal percentage of cats affected by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). HCM is a thickening of the left ventricle wall of the heart. Many cats that have heart conditions show no symptoms (ie heart murmur) when checked by a non-specialist vet, or by your regular vet. If you want to be proactive it is a good precaution to ensure you are breeding healthy cats or your pet cat is heart healthy. This exam not only checks for HCM, but other heart abnormalities as well.
This is by no means a perfect tool but it is the best tool we have right now. Even if the result of the exam is normal - HCM and other heart abnormalities can appear at any time in the future. The pedigree must also be consulted depending on the results.”

Thanx in advance ❌⭕️❌⭕️

I found on the hairless hearts website a couple of vets who do then but the website is not updated so I don’t know if they have any currently scheduled. You might call and see.

They were:
Dr. Katie Schmitt
Frederick, Maryland
$200
(240)457-4387

Dr. Eva Sikorska
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
$175 cash
(412)366-3400

I’ve found ringing hospitals and asking for visiting vet cardiologists is a way too.

Hi Sheldon,

The hairless hearts is the clinic I usually attend. They both were held already... I believe in July.

No unfortunately it costs $700 for two cats. However it should include a board certified certificate from the cardiologist with all of the readings and measurements of the heart.
