hello!
usually, veruca sleeps with my under the covers, atop a pillow of course. lately she has been waking me up at all hours and i want to buy her a heating pad as an alternative, so we can both get some rest.
it seems like there are so many options out there, so i thought i would ask here if anyone has one they love?
veruca and i thank you!

i've heard that there are heat pads that are weight activated. i'd love one of those, but haven't found any :(
i agree an automatic shutoff is a must. i am a worry wort when it comes to leaving any sort of heating element unattended. i don't even leave the dryer on when i leave the house.

how did i not guess gizzy would have not one, but 2 heating pads?
i sure love his level of spoilage. his own room, wardrobe and warm places? i thought Veruca was the most spoiled, but i have to reconsider now.
i love it!

I have 2 levels in my townhome... so there is one upstairs and one downstairs. This is mostly due to my laziness, as I do not feel like remembering to bring it upstairs every night:Wink:

I got Bella a sunbeam heated throw from Wal-Mart... $29.00. I keep it on the couch where she sleeps at night, and it shuts off after 3 hours on its own so I dont have to worry about it. I use the throw too!!! Its so nice :BigSmile::BigSmile:

I put my sunbeam heating pad in her bed. It has the automatic shutoff and she seems to like it. I agree with the person who said products made for people are probably safer. It seems that animal products get less testing.

Also, I just ordered a self-warming heating pad (no electricity required) from Amazon.com [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Pet-Thermal-Cat-Mat-Beige/dp/B001GF6MK0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294339710&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: Pet Thermal Cat Mat - Beige Color: Kitchen & Dining@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51g4aOWOPvL.@@AMEPARAM@@51g4aOWOPvL[/ame]. It was cheap and had good reviews and I feel better about not leaving something plugged in all the time. I will leave a review on it once it gets here and I have the chance to use it .

Gulliver loves PetSafe Heated Wellness Sleeper, Small size... It can be left plugged in and you can't even tell it's warm until your "oh so warm kitty" gets up from sleeping in it. It took a bit for him to figure out it's warm, and the other one's haven't so the king has found his throne

Pooner has two heated beds but I can't find the brand on them :Dizzy:
For Christmas he got a Biddeford heated throw blanket that is heated and has auto shut off and you can control the temp on it, he loves to curl up in it on the sofa.
I've seen a variety of heated cat beds in the Foster and Smith for cats catalog. They have electric ones and ones that don't require electricity.
Good Luck! Veruca will love you for her new heated sleep spot!

update
my lovely husband bought Veruca a pet zzz weight activated pad. i had to warm it up for her the first time so she would realize it is warm. she stayed on it a while last night, but opted to sleep with me.
this morning, i found her sleeping on it, so she did learn that it is a warm spot for her :)
i think i still might get her a heated bed in the future.
i really want to know about the self heating thermal pads still.
warm regards and a warm kitty,
lisa

a little off topic, but what kind of coconut oil do you get?
i've never used it, but Veruca's derriere gets gross.

I use Nutiva...get it from Amazon also. [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Nutiva-Organic-Virgin-Coconut-15-Ounce/dp/B001EO5Q64/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294938052&sr=8-1"]Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 15-Ounce Tubs (Pack of 2): Amazon.com: Grocery & Gourmet Food@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Q59F4TF2L.@@AMEPARAM@@41Q59F4TF2L[/ame]

I like it so far . I also use natural baby wipes on her rear when she gets dirty...those are good for quick paw wipe-ups too.
