Hello and advice please on new baby sphynx

Hi everyone!

I collected my little girl sphynx kitten on Saturday and she's absolutely adorable! She's settling in so well with our family and our other cat too which is lovely.

I've never ever had a sphynx before so I did lots of research and made sure to ask lots of questions to her breeder before I made the decision to put a deposit down etc.

As I say she's settling in very well, we all love her so much and she's just an instant part of our family now. The only issue I have is her toileting - she uses the litter tray and I've stuck with the litter and food her breeder was using too - but she seems to always have runny poo. Is this normal? Could it be stress? I've noticed she's needing to be cleaned by myself once she's been to the tray on her bottom as well as her feet otherwise she's trailing it through my house which isn't ideal.

@Thatgirlcalled , hi Melissa , happy adorable Rue gotcha! so glad you joined us. members with kittens will surely chime in on kitten "poo foot" experiences. has Rue had a wellness check ( bring fresh stool sample). some breeder contracts require wellness check within a certain time period. we are here for you. so glad Rue is settling in nicely with your family and furbaby. all paws are family. love to see pics/name of furbaby too!

Stress can definitely affect their tummies. Agree if you have not already gotten. A wellness check get it now (with a poop sample)…most contracts have a deadline 3-4 days to get one or contract is void.

Thank you so much for your responses! I've spoken with her breeder and all of the checks were fine so I'm thinking it's all stress related. Will keep an eye on her and get her to the vet if needed by the end of the week. I need to get her registered anyway x

What a cutie she is. We see a lot of kittens with tummy issues and poop feet, poop butts, poop tails...most of the times after a few weeks when they are used to their new homes it gets better.

Rue is still running around like a little whirlwind, but I am concerned about how much she is using the litter tray as well as her runny poops, she also seems to have a red and inflamed bottom so we will be going to the vets for a visit tomorrow just to make sure all is well.

Hello and welcome to you and your adorable little Rue. In my experience runny poo is not that uncommon at first, the stress of a big change etc, The red bottom may be related to the runny poo issue but its still a good idea to get your vet to have a loo. Hope all goes well today

@Thatgirlcalled She is precious... Welcome to the group. My 1st Sphynx went through this, I was constantly washing his feet and legs, one day his tail. Only lasted for about a week and then he was fine and his vet visit checked out fine.

Hi everyone! Hope you and your babies are all well!

Rue is doing amazing, she's no longer having runny poo and I'm no longer having to run after her to clean her up which is wonderful as much as I love her, I much prefer just enjoying a cuddle without the added poo on my clothes!

She's such a sweet girl, she loves cuddling with everyone especially my 8 year old daughter and myself

Tonight is bath night, which she also enjoys so I'm looking forward to this.

I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to reply! Her silliest habit is climbing on top of her window box instead of inside it, will try to get a photo when she next does it. Her favourite toy at the moment is a donut shaped toy with a ball inside that she hits with her paw, she really enjoys that xx

Aww she is adorable…! Yeah my kitty had the poops when I first got her! Think it was nerves and she had a wee virus - she got meds and it cleared up! I also used 1 litter tray and 2 plastic food containers as she was so tiny and a bit nervous. I placed them quiet areas and as she grew in confidence - I removed the tubs over a few weeks!

Although now she is 6 and has 2 litter trays - she like to poop in one and urinate in the other, LOL. Diva…! Xxx
