My sphynx just had two kittens Tuesday night and I’ve never seen this before I’m thinking it’s mama over cleaning her baby? I’m not entirely sure though I wanted to get some opinions before I take her to the vet due to the closest vet being a long ways away

I should also mention it doesn’t seem to be causing any pain and she’s nursing No problem her energy hasn’t decreased. She’s actually the strong one out of the litter.

@Bmm1377 , awh congrats and thriving head smooches to mom kitty and babies. I am not a breeder. we do have a couple of breeder members who hopefully can chime in
rash from nursing??
can you send photos email to your vet?

@Catzzzmeow , @Sheldon13
I’ve tried contacting a few different vets none have responded yet so I’m just waiting to see if they can thankfully if doesn’t seem to be causing her any pain or nursing issues and she’s as lively as ever

It almost looks like they are rubbing it on something. When it nurses, is it nursing differently than the others when you watch it? Is it staying latched on to it’s mother longer and maybe it stays wet in that area and it is irritating it. Did you try reaching out to your breeder to see if they have ever seen this?

It’s actually the stronger one of the two she only had two kittens I did notice the Mom was kind of having a hard time staying still while the kids were latching so they were moving around a lot more but the other kitten doesn’t seem to have it, so I’m not too sure I did reach out to the breeder that I purchased the mother from they have yet to respond to me though.

Also, some people are saying it’s possibly feline herpes. I don’t have any personal experience with that, but does this look like it could be the symptoms of that like I said she’s eating fine, not sneezing no respiratory issues her eyes are closed so I can’t tell if there’s any discharge or anything or at least from what it looks like there isn’t
