Ok maybe "broke" is a bit of an exaggeration but if I can't get this thing to go away SHE will have a broke butt. Ok somehow my chunky monkey has turned on my on-screen keyboard. I didn't even know it had one so I have no idea how to turn it off. I went online and followed this stupid thread that told me to go to programs and features and then click on turn window features on and off and make sure the check mark is taken off of the tablet pc optional components then it would reboot and life would be back to normal. Except when it rebooted that stupid keyboard is on my screen and I swear it's taunting me. Can someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me how to get rid of this thing. I would hate to have to go buy a new laptop, which at this point seems like a good option. I don't know where else to ask I know we have some computer genius' here and something tells me one of them will be able to save my sanity and Meechos hiney

Try this - the Win + U keys. This should bring u to the utility mgr. Select on screen keyboard and see if there is a check in the Start automatically box when I log in. If there is uncheck. Click okay. Log put and back in and let me know if that works.

Also Open the Start Menu. Open the Control Panel. Go to "Ease of Access". Go to "Ease of Access Center". Find "Use the Computer without a Mouse or Keyboard". Click on this. Make sure that the box next to "Use Onscreen Keyboard" is unchecked. Save. Restart. See if this helps.

lol, sorry I can't help you, Gummi does this to me all the time, usually shutting it off and back on fixes mine, lucky for me as I have no computer skills!

Mine usually just type odd strings of letters, although occassionaly I have caught them ordering fancy cat strollers online or Image-Googling "Snuffie" :Woo::LOL:

Sorry I'm no help with your problem. Hope you can get it fixed soon!

apcolleen: I have an HP pavilion dv7 running on vista premier

dreaming_in_colour: I went to my ease of access center and there aren't any boxes but there is a word area I can click on that say's start up on screen keyboard and when I click on that all it does is bring it back up.

I would try the first suggestion but...ummm what are my "U keys" :Pudently: I'm guessing the win key is the one with the windows flag on it right?

Thank you all for everyone's help. I finally found out how to turn it off. dreaming_in_colour you had me in the right place I just couldn't figure out that I had to go into the use without mouse or keyboard function. And just as you said it would be, there was a check mark next to onscreen keyboard. I will never figure out how Meecho turned it on, but at least I know how to turn it off if she does it again:LOL:

Win key - yes you are correct... the U key is just that...your letter U key.

Win + U keys together to launch the Ease of Access Center. Or go to Control Panel to Ease of Access Center.

Then click on "Use the Computer without a mouse or keyboard" (most probably the 3rd option in the list).

Then on next page uncheck the box which says "Use On-Screen Keyboard".

Click Save

Maybe someone will add a vibration device to laptops so kitties will get startled and run off.

Wonderful to hear from you again kalliee129, it's been a while. I was beginning to think Meecho really did break your computer. Sounds like Meecho has gained a few recently. heheh little hobgoblin.

Hi kalliee!

Glad you got it figured out. Sophie has definitely brought up some strange screens - I'm glad she hasn't broke anything yet.

Sorry it's been so long but since the winter storms in December I have been slammed at work. Usually when it hits summer we start to slow down a little so I can catch a breath but for some reason this year it hasn't. I've been working so many hours that when I get home I just want to crawl in bed and then I spend the weekend doing all the things I couldn't do during the week just so I can be ready to do it all again. Meecho has gained some weight and attitude:LOL: I mean you guys heard the horror stories from before and those were kiddy play apparently. Whatever happened to calming down as you go older:Dizzy: I love here to death but I swear she will be the death of me. Between being exhausted from being at work in this heat no less to coming home and having her literally flung in my face and told that if I don't take her away right now they will skin her:LOL: Then I get to walk around the house and clean up her trails of destruction. The worst part is her and Suki my youngest dog have become cohorts in crime. Separate their a hand full, together they are so bad that if we dropped them in Irag they could probably clean house:Laugh:

Wow you have been busy for sure! I would love to hear some stories about Meecho and Suki! I remember the video you posted of their "kiss" which you said immediately following was Meecho trying to get Suki to scram .

Now Meecho will spend hours licking Suki which is hilarious to watch because every time she licks Suki's fur she spits at her tongue because she doesn't like the hair:LOL: The when Meecho gets close to Suki's neck, Suki will stretch it to give her better access and then starts shaking her leg when Meecho get just the right spot:Laugh: This is the only time there is absolute silence in the house....well except the spitting of the fur:LOL:
