I got my sphynx kitten a month ago. He’s four months old. He got ring worm the second week of having him so I had to quarantine him in my bathroom. He got stressed out from that and starting biting the crap out of his tail and it ended up getting infected and needing to get partly amputated but just two vertebrates which happened a week ago. His e collar can’t get any bigger or else he wouldn’t be able to eat or drink but he is still able to reach his tail. He’s continuing to bite at it and it’s an open wound and bleeding again. He has the full size house with toys and scratchers and another dog and my grandma who stays home most of the time while I am at work. I am so upset over this and I called the vet and they’re going to prescribe him anti anxiety meds but I am still concerned. What more else can I do

Aww am so sorry, god bless you and your kitty have been through a lot. Bless I honestly don’t have any experience with this but hopefully more people will come in and give you advise. What’s your kitty’s name? By the sounds of things you have been doing everything. Sending you hugs {=

I’m not convinced that the anxiety of being in the bathroom alone could have caused this. I would say the meds your vet is suggesting are worth a try though. Are you spending time with him in the bathroom?

My cat had a tail amputation as well, due to an injury. Postoperatively what I found is that if her pain was handled she would leave the tail alone. Your kitten continuing to bite it makes me think he needs more pain meds.
