Ok I would like to abuse your knowledge yet again

Mr Billbo Bagins has the same mum as my Cleo but different dads ( shushhhh please don’t ever mention it ! I don’t want them to think badly of their momma )
Now we have noticed some differences in their errrrrrr bone structure
Now Bagins biological daddy is a Bambino
Now they told us that Bagins has the Bambino gene ...
I didn’t want them to think me dim ah ha
Bagins sits like a rabbit on his back legs and his front legs look a little different from cleo’s ( I am not sure of the names of the bones ! I do in hoooomans but that’s no good )
She kind of dips down at the front with his bum up lol
He is very clumsy every time he jumps he falls
Now having this gene does that mean if he had babies there could be a bambino in the litter ?
It isn’t like I am planning on him having babies ( I can’t have grandkitties all over England )
Quite the opposite I am building him up to errrr be fixed
Now you know I’m a bit dim so please explain as simply as your able ah ha
Thanks in advance
Hugs
Anita Cleo & Bagins xxx❤️❤️❤️

Oh ps I forgot to add that he appears a little pigeon chested ( no idea of the term used in the USA that’s what it’s referred to here uk )
Cleo doesn’t seem to have the same chest structure , do you think as Bagins grows and fills out his chest fill out also ?

As far as I know, but I'm not a breeder, having thr bambino gene means their could be a bambino in the litter when you breed with him. But better wait what breeders have to say:)

I don't want to contradict your breeder, but from what I've read about Bambinos and the way short-leggedness is passed down, genetically, cats with normal length legs do not carry a Bambino gene. This is because the short-legged trait is dominant, which means a cat needs only 1 copy of the gene, from either parent, to display the trait. Embryos with two copies of this trait (one from mom and one from dad) actually do not survive and get resorbed in the womb, so all Bambino cats only have 1 copy of the short-legged gene (from either mom or dad).

If this is the case, that would mean Bagins's father did not pass his short-legged trait to Bagins, but instead gave him the gene for normal length legs.

I have a website that talks about the hairless trait and the short-legged trait (as well as a couple others) and has some 4x4 squares that help break down the possibilities of inheritance when you breed cats with these different traits together. However, it's written by cattery with links to the cattery website directly, so I can't post it, but you can PM me if you'd like the link!

Breeder folks or others who know more about Bambinos should definitely weigh in, as this is info mostly just from reading about how these traits are inherited, not from any breeding experience or expertise.
