Normally I don't come on here to complain about things that can't be fixed. But today stuff has just not been going right or adding up and now I AM MAD... Everyone knows I had a horrible experience with Shiloh's "breeder" well today Shiloh went into her first heat, that shit is WILD to me because she is just coming into her 5th month of life, and I was told that she would not hit 'maturity' until between 8-12 months old which is normal range for most if not all animals some later but very very few earlier. I was speaking via email and zoom with a vet because obviously I am concerned, could something be wrong? Is she sick? Cancer? Horrible thoughts passing through my mind, and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep unless I spoke with someone. I sent pictures, was on zoom they did all the looking of her etc... They said there is absolutely NO WAY my "kitten" is in her 5th month of life... Excuse me what? I was told she was born May 2, 2024; she is a blue/seal point micro velvet sphynx... The on-call vet said sure everything about her traits could be correct BUT she was most certainly NOT born in May 2024... So, I asked when would you say she was born they said "mid-March beginning of April" My jaw literally hit the floor... That would make her about to be 8 MONTHS old not 6 MONTHS old... That means all her shots, all her follow ups have been WRONG. Literally dangerous to give her wrong vaccinations, It could have KILLED her. This is absolutely heart wrenching, sickening, disturbing, and annoying. I still love Shiloh more than life itself, obviously. But anyone getting a kitten of ANY kind PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research on the breeders. Shiloh isn't even the original kitten we picked out from the litter, Shiloh is the runt and one of the lightest colored blue/greys... We picked out the biggest chunker and the darkest blue/grey with striking blue eyes like the dad cat... We did NOT get what we paid for. We were told we couldn't pick her up till 12 weeks, totally fine, then all of a sudden, we HAD to pick her up at 8 weeks because the "breeder" was going to be busy the day we had set up MONTHS in advance. & the "breeder" didn't even have the kittens in her "custody" she got rid of mom cat while she was breeding/pregnant to someone who knew nothing about these animals, and I almost didn't get my kitten. I am fuming. I am hurt. I thought the lies from this person were done but I guess not.
I am going to stop HERE... Everything else I have to say is not nice. I feel so bad for my girl. The vet did say she looked great and if I wanted to, they would give the 'OK' to breed... I'm just so unsure at this point on what to do.

My vet said they won’t spay until she’s atleast 5-6lbs. Yes I’m very aware of the no ketamine, I’m a vet tech and have worked with animals who have allergic reactions to certain anesthesia or some who just can’t have it at all! She Appreciates the head smooches

Being as your baby was the runt (probably smaller in size) and your breeder was very dishonest with you, this could mean anything they told you about the breeding parents could also be false, so I would spay her and just love your life with her. Did the breeder provide proof of HCM scans from the breeding parents?

Thought this might be helpful as well…

This group is not about breeding but I am sure there are plenty out there that might be helpful in that area.

I almost bought 2 more kittens from her and met the breeding parents. I saw the linage of them I know what she is by genetics/traits is honest. She gave me copies of HCM on breeding parents that were negative, she gave me all blood tests that could affect kittens that were negative, but she was just dishonest about everything else. I have all the paperwork and Shiloh has been seen multiple times at the vet just to make sure she is growing properly she is healthy if there is anything to change in her diet to help her gain weight etc. Again i will repeat my vet will not touch her until she is at least 5lbs which she is not.

Totally understand your vet has their standard guidelines. You might ask them why they will let her have a litter at a low weight but will not spay at a lower weight. It feels counter intuitive but I am sure they have their reasons. It’s great for all of us to learn from one another’s experience. I am lucky my vet agrees with my breeder…5 pounds or 6 months whichever comes first.

@Shiloh24 , my vet 5 lb/6 mos spay/neuter guidelines.

I personally would have baby Shiloh spayed. sharing many breeders feed royal canin baby cat canned food.

Very concerning to me when you said " but she was dishonest about everything else". The responsible breeder link is helpful as well as the fraud tips link.

being a tiny girl would also risk pregnancy complications and who knows what "everything else" is.

My vet wanted my Paka to be 7 lbs. She was very sick when I got her. Her furry sisters got neutered at 6 mo but Paka had to wait until she was 10 mo. By that time she had gone into heat and we had to wait until that was over.
