Hi everyone! Im new!

Hello dear friends and Sphynx lovers! My name is Marina. Im 25. Im photographer. Married. All my life had animals - cats. But after I moved from Ukraine to USA 7 months ago I left my best best friend cat Mila there at my homeland. I can not live without her, but she is 14 years old so I felt sorry for her if I would had to bring her here and make her deal with 12 hours flight at her age. Even tho now Im beggin my mom to bring her here anyways because Im suffering without my furry friend.
But I always wanted to have Sphynx cat too, since I was in highschool, but in my native country it was not possible - too expensive, too "weird looking" for my parents etc etc. Now, when Im married, have my own little family, living on my own I can do whatever and make my childish dreams come true. Ive been looking for this kind of cat for couple days now and seams to me that minimum price for it 1000 dollars. Which is insane my husband said. So I figured I find forum and let people know I want this cat badly and if some of you does rescuing and giving one for adoption it would be fantastic! I live in Maryland, but could travel within 120 miles! I hope Ill find my friend here and can not wait to make him happy in our family!

Welcome to Sphynx Lair.
Most the good breeders do not sell kittens for less then $1000.
You can get a retired breeder sometimes for $400 though.
You also need to be careful when you get a sphynx.
You should get a sphynx from someone that HCM scans.
It is very important.

You can check out Hoobly, they always have some on there and I usually try and post them on here(as well as others) . A member is actually picking up one today that I had posted yesterday. You have to be careful though! Good luck!!

I can tell you I felt quite guilty at first buying Sophie since all my other pets I've ever had were adopted. My boyfriend was also quite shocked at how much I was going to pay for her. This may sound dumb but I rationalized it as: she's coming from a known good and reputable breeder, her price tag divided by average years she'll live isn't that expensive and the happiness she'll bring me is priceless!

Oh believe me I understand. If I had these money Id get kitten right now, but because of me not be able to work yet in this country and my husband supporting us and helping financially his mother we just cant afford it yet. No problem! They're well worth the wait! Like M2M suggested- check breeders pages for retired breeders and all other sites for rescues. Good luck and I'm sure you'll find your kitty soon.

Welcome to Sphynx Lair! It's a wonderfully caring, well moderated, intelligent site! Good luck with your search for a free sphynx--have never heard of one, but I suppose anything is possible. But I am sure there is a sphynx out there trying to find you as hard as you're trying to find him/her.

Thank you so much! Yeah, I tried..so there are 2 cats. One female, dont know her age but she had kittens, they dont wanna talk over the phone so I have to feel the adoption form, and one boy i think 2 years without one eye
