Hi everyone, I’ve had Geze (who is almost 3 years old) for a little over 3 months now and I never thought a cat would bring me so much happiness.

we’ve now decided to get Geze a sister and we’ve reached out to the lady we got her from and turns out one of her house sisters is in need of a new home, they grew up together so I don’t think they would have any issues with reintroduction, but any advice is welcome as I am new to all of this! :)

@mychemicaleli , welcoming you and adorable Geze to the lair family! so exciting getting a sister grew up with!! do you have a gotcha day?
I set up kitty safe room, slow intros. since they know each other's scent all paws crossed for a smooth introduction! I have all adoptees that included a bonded pair.

thank you for sharing the adorable photos! hope you are active with us with lots of pics and tales! never hesitate to ask questions! hugs n head smooches

@mychemicaleli , counting down 3/29 gotcha day with you!! did you tell Geze!? :)
your heart must be going pitter patter.

will you be using same food, same litter as she has at her house? I did and slowly transitioned to what I use.

I’m sure Geze is not as excited I am as she will no longer be the only child haha

I will be using the same dry food, but will changed to a gently cooked diet from her current raw diet, as I had a really bad experience transitioning Geze and learnt from my mistakes! In terms of litter for what I saw last time it looked like they had different options around the house from normal litter to no litter at all - so brave

I can’t wait to share more photos :)

Hello to you and Geze, she is beautiful. Hope the introduction goes smoothly, definitely take it nice and slow. Could you bring home a blanket or something that has your new adoptees scent on it just to put in the house for a couple of weeks so Geze gets used to the new smell ?

A little update we just got Agota (2 days early!) and we are on our way back home, she’s so beautiful! I can’t wait to show you all, also turns out she is Geze half sister - same dad!

Now time for a very slow introduction, luckily I have a few days off for the Easter bank holiday :))

My baby Agota, they kept calling for each other through the door so today we decided to let Agota out of the bathroom as it’s quite cold in there and other than a few hisses and growls they just stare at each other from opposite sides of the room.

We also found out when we went to get her that she might be pregnant, but not entirely sure as the male of the house where she was escaped a few times and two of the other female cats were pregnant. I’m really hoping she’s not as I have no idea how to deal with a birth :(( we were planning to have her neutered asap, but now we don’t know and we don’t have an appointment until the 10th April.

Any tips to know if she could be pregnant?

@mychemicaleli , melt my heart! happy adorable Agota gotcha!! a little hissing growling normal. I would let vet know ahead of time that she "maybe " pregnant before her spay appointment. also, be sure to confirm NO ketamine anesthesia , ask if it is an abominal or flank incision spay, and the after care. mine went home with some pain meds and no cone. some members order the flower looking soft cone on amazon and a recovery suit for spay recovery. my girls did fine without either. I asked vet ahead of time questions I had. did they mention pre surgery bloodwork?

hugs n head smooches. following closely for updates and the introductions!

Yoda mom I have and they said the will check on the day, maybe I’m just stressing for no reason! I’m so grateful for this group, thanks to you guys I learnt no Ketamine and all about spaying :) No Ketamine confirmed from the vet and we’ll be ordering a surgery vest next week, I completely forgot to ask about the 2 different types of surgeries. Hopefully I’ll be showing you all photos of the two together in no time :)
