So, I'm at home with my family for the holidays. Coraline has been here before and usually plays well with others, but this afternoon she's been hissing at everyone--just for looking at her! (Something usually reserved for the vet tech taking a rectal temperature!) I'm hoping she'll stop in a couple days when she's less anxious. Any tips for making her feel more comfortable?

Do you have any Feliway spray? Others on here have recommended it and I've used it for Sophie. There's a wall plugin or spray. If you don't maybe a treat in her favorite spot she likes to relax in if she will eat. I'm sure there must be more ideas....thinking....

I've only seen Sophie do this once were she got REALLY spooked when I was visiting at the breeders. She preferred to be alone in her bed for a while. She hissed at everyone including her own litter-mates. She eventually calmed down.

I'm sure she will settle down in a day or two! Just let her do her thing and get used to her surroundings and people. Give the people she is hissing at some kitty treats to give her like greenies.

I've yet to hear Ra hiss which is a good thing but I bet your baby is just a wee bit stressed out is all; my Siamese used to get that way when we wen't to visit the now ex-inlaws but she usually calmed down after a day or so.

Thanks for the encouraging replies! She purposefully walks up to people and gets them to pet her and then hisses. This morning my sister was sleeping in a chair, and Coraline stood by her shoulder and hissed until she woke up. I think she wants everyone to know who's in charge! Haha.

Happy holidays to all!

So, by the end of the week, Coraline was her lovey self to everyone buy my youngest sister. Coraline hissed at her everytime she came into the room and would sneak around, following my sister so she could jump out and hiss/growl at her. It was crazy! Apparently though, as soon as I left (I left Coraline with my family while I finish up the last week of my semester because I didn't want her to have to make the long car trip back and forth again), she cuddled up with my sister and purred and loved on her. Go figure! Obviously, she was playing some game we didn't know the rules to!

:Worn-out: I'm glad I'm not the only one that would like to be let in on the "rules" to the games these babies play. I guess it's strictly on a "need to know" basis--and we must not've made the list of those that need to know.
